lillylav:) would it help if you just treated yourself 1 day a week, say like a friday...crunchie day... or aim to set it like that, maybe 2 days, or whatever?...giving youself something to look forward to might make it easier......sorry, im just rambling here a bitCorduroy pillows are making headlines! Hi
You have a positive outlook thats a great step. Another nice treat which is quite cheap to make is homemade popcorn made simply with a little olive oil. Have you tried organic liquorice tea by clipper that is nice to drink as it is naturally sweet. It's also good for the immne systum. I usually have 2 cups a day and rarely get colds now. You may not like liquorice but if you do the drink helps to prevent you reaching for a choclate bar.0 -
Just wanted to wish you lots of luck with your challenge, I always think t must be really hard for anyone with eating issues. It's an addiction like drugs or alcohol but at least with those you can exist without doing them. It's hard with food as you have to eat to live, so hard to break the addiction. You wouldn't give a heroin addict just a little heroin and not expect them to want more
.
I think you are doing well by tackling it from the alternative angle of cutting down on spending and not focussing on the food issue. Take it a day at a time and try and focus on your successes not any bad days.
Glad you are getting support from your OH:D
Take care.0 -
Hi! I can totally see where you're coming from with this and will be really interested to see how you get on - wish you the best of success. I know what you mean about being able to spend £20 on unnecessary food: with us it's lunches out and takeaways, and although we've fallen off the wagon a bit lately due to house move and new baby taking up every spare second, we really did focus much better when we made a concerted effort to stop spending money rather than worrying about our diet.
Fab that you've got your OH in on it too, welcome Cloister! Good luck to you both!0 -
Good luck in your quest lily; your post really struck a chord with me. I waste an absolute fortune on unnecessary food when there is perfectly good stuff in the cupboards at home.
For instance, on the way home today I spent just under a fiver on chocolate, sausage roll, newspaper and a box of french fancies that were on offer. Did not need any of it!
Getting a bit deep here, for me I think that my problems controlling my spending and my problems controlling my weight are probably linked.
It will be good to hear how you get on; I wish you lots of success xxxProud to be dealing with my debts

Hi there,
GOOD LUCK.
I too suffer with an Over Eating disorder, mainly binge eating and am desperate to try and get it under some sort of control along with my spending/debts.
Its just so hard sometimes and the amount of emotions that go through your mind before, during and after are so powerful.
Im currently taking hypno and counselling to see if this will help me as my health is now beggining to really suffer, Im 28 years old and very overweight.
It would be really great to have someone to talk to who is also over eating as well as over spending, lol,
Please feel free to pm me and maybe we can have a chat,
Take care

Thanks so much for all the lovely replies!
Today I spent a bit more than I should have but still managed to resist a lot of things. I wanted to get a lovely pork and stuffing roll from the stand in the town centre (went shopping with my lovely mum this morning) but resisted so saved £3. I also wanted to buy cakes but considering I ate 6 almond slices and 4 fairy cakes yesterday, didn't think it was wise
Anyway...today's spendage:
Tesco
Bread £1.16 Bloody rip off it is to get a white loaf nowadays!
Pack 6 tins bakes beans £2
Tin foil 34p
Sliced ham 89p
That's Life mag 68p
Pick Me Up mag (bit of trash to read in the bath) 50p
Boots
Foundation Compact £12
Mascara £5
Blusher Brush £2.99
That's the lot!
I need to go to Aldi to get some milk because I just made a blancmange and used it all up but that should be all for today.
Pinkylou, I'm 28 too and am 13 and a half stone so I know how you feel. I've always had a problem with food and it's just not getting better. I've emailed MIND to see if I can get some counselling but nothing back yet.

Decided to get out this evening after tea because the weather was lovely and sunny and I thought it would distract from scoffing. So, DH and I took the little man out to feed the ducks. We had a lovely little walk round and then took him to the park where I trod in some dog shoite. Then we popped to Sainsburys on the way home to buy:
Chocolate Milk £1.18(for DS)
White Wine £3.29 (for me)
Stella £10.28 (for DH and my brother)
Red Bull Cheapo Version (for DH and my brother)
Vodka £7.99 (for DH and my brother)
Greek Yoghurt 95p
Wanted to buy lots of chocolate and stuff but DH managed to talk me out of it by reminding me I'd have to write it on here. I really wanted a MacD earlier too but again resisted. Had some ham, 4 raisin digestives and some manky blancmange instead (note to self, use full fat milk next time otherwise tastes like runny flavourings).
Anyway, scoffed some Cadburys earlier and reeeeaaaalllly longing for it now so we'll see..."The path of my life is strewn with cowpats from the Devil's own satanic herd!" Blackadder0
