Give me a medal - I resisted the Cadbury Caramel for a whole 4 minutes!"The path of my life is strewn with cowpats from the Devil's own satanic herd!" Blackadder0

Well I've woken up in a bit of a mood today, think I'm getting a cold so feel grumpy and tired. Just want to eat comfort food so am planning a bit of a mini binge. Don't want to go overboard though cos my double chin is annoying me and I don't want it to think its welcome or anything!
Have got £14 in my purse. Can buy a lot of chum with that. Think I will drop the boy off to pre-school and then nip to the shops and get a few treats. I wonder how cheaply I can do a binge...? We'll see!"The path of my life is strewn with cowpats from the Devil's own satanic herd!" Blackadder0 -

It's an addiction like drugs or alcohol but at least with those you can exist without doing them. It's hard with food as you have to eat to live, so hard to break the addiction. You wouldn't give a heroin addict just a little heroin and not expect them to want more
.
Ohhh you and I are on teh same wave length Sophiesmum - that's the way I think too.
Being a rather rotund 5ft nuthin'er I' always on the look out for a new plan.Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .0 -
Please dont binge, it solves nothing. Spend the money on a new lipstick or a spray tan or a short course on the tanning beds. A new scarf, nails done, something you can enjoy. something that boosts your confidence by making you look pretty. I will bet you 10p that you really dont taste the food as it goes in after the first few minutes.0

It just doesn't work that way for me unfortunately. The trouble with being a compulsive eater is just that - it's a compulsion and I just don't know how to stop myself. It's like a person with OCD - they know washing their hands in bleach is bad but they can't stop themselves. I wish it was as easy as buying a scarf, I really do.
I truly do thank you for your words though, I know you meant them well:beer:

Lemon sponge cake 99p (eaten half)
Haribo sweets £1.69 (eaten about 20)
Viscount Choc mint bic things 99p (eaten 6)
Tomatoes 49p (eaten 4)
Welcome Mat £3.99 (eaten...oh no, I managed to resist that)

By the way, in case anyone wonders, I'm doing this thread as a bit of self therapy and also just in case there are any other compulsive eaters out there for whom it might prove interesting. It's always nice to know you're not alone!"The path of my life is strewn with cowpats from the Devil's own satanic herd!" Blackadder0

Hi lily,
I think you are very brave posting so honestly; it has got to be supportive for any one else in the same boat and hopefully therapeutic for you too.
Have you tried your local library for information on support groups or self-help books. I'm afraid I don't know much about compulsive eating but maybe reading some books on the subject would help you develop some strategies that you can use when the compulsion to binge strikes would help?
Good luck anyway and please keep posting - keep us updated xProud to be dealing with my debts

I'm exactly the same, I can't help eating bad food, and if there's any in the house I have to eat it, I can get so much thinking it'll last a week but it's gone in a day.
I always thought that considering it an eating disorder was belittling 'real' ones like anorexia, but maybe not now after reading these posts. How do you go about getting help for it?
Lately I've tried switching to fruit, but oh thinks it's too expensive - he's going in a few weeks though thank god.
I'm 27 and 16 stone, I really need to get this under control and lose weight.
Thank you for starting this thread, I thought I was the only one!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Lily, have you tried hypnotherapy? I had a friend with a chocolate addiction who wouldn't touch the stuff after that. It didn't work for me, I tried it for weight loss a couple of years ago, but I think that's partly because I felt very uncomfortable with the wierd bloke who was supposed to be hypnotising me. Perhaps you could ask Hypno for any advice, and whether it might work or not for you?0
