Thanks Pink another lump in the throat here.
Ooooooooooh spooky Serena - Philadelphus was the one thing I was thinking of. We had the bog standard one in our old house and I loved the scent. I never knew there was a gold leafed one I shall go search for some images.
Our mahonia does have a lovely trunk and we have prunned it back hard several times since being here. It has heaps of berries ripening and I know it flowers but it is a bit well uninteresting. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow and you can all vote does it stay or does it go.
Living room and hall now all done and half the family room. Really forcing myself to do it with Miss P's voice in my mind, you know you like it when it's done and nobody else is going to do it!The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Strange evening here,
Had an awful mummy moment, really needed the loo, had to 'run up' and DS followed me and fell down the stairs the whole way top to bottom. Luckily just shook up. And he was being rather a monkey until DH came in. I've noticed that it is mainly in the last 30 mins to hour before DH comes in, he gets really giddy when it is supposed to be wind down time.
Also was having a 'mare with the Tiscali box - the telly wouldn't work at all, so i couldn't watch home and away, and was having severe grumps because of it.How sad is that.
bargainbird welcome
waves to everyone else - push quick vibes to johanne hopefully the way my back is aching, i won't be joining her tonight. I would rather wait till the weekend or early next week if i can.
Right, achieved today:- WM - 1 load of DS darks, 1 load of mine, all airers emptied so that both loads got hung up
- ironed 35 items from the pile - so it is now only stuff that is from emptying the airer today :j although it is mostly tiny DS and baby things.
- finished packing Ds's bag to package him off when i have the baby. Just need a seperate carrier with nappies and wipes, plus drinking cups, and he will be sorted.
- written a cheque for ground rent payment that is due - need to get that posted later - will take a short walk with DS if the rain stops, or make DH do it if not
- updated spending diary from yesterday
- put away last nights washing up
- WM now on with last load of 0-3 clothes - i can't really be any more prepared i don't think, although you never know - i may have forgotten something
, also hung up
- made a fish pie for dinner
- washed up all lunch and breakie dishes
- hoovered the living room/dining room again!

As our resident horticultural specialist, please would you give me some advice. I got rid of something by my front door that was really woody and out of control. I bought a skimmia and a salix the other day and thought of putting one of them in the space (or in tubs on my patio), but the soil does get very wet!!! The weeping willow (this Mother's Day's gift) in the middle of the front lawn does very well and I've got a mahonia by the front gate which is thriving. I've got a camellia, a ceanothus, a forsythia, a hydrangea, a pieris and a few others I'm not sure of, with a rosa rugosa hedge along the front fence, all of which seem to be doing very well (only been here 3 years and I've put all of them in) Does that give any clue to the type of soil? I can't remember who said my decimated acer (foster puppies) would recover if I put a mulch on it, but it still looks like a stick! :rotfl:DMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419

I'm done. Level 2 and a bit and I didn't do the hall. Found some cracking cobwebs though, plants are all outside for a watering and the windows are see through again.

Pink I'd say it was on the acidic side of neutral - what colour does your hydrangea flower?
Pigpen next week could we do flyladies goes outside and only have outside and gardening jobs? I'd be much more like to stick with the plot. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

LOL.. no... I don't DO gardening.. plus my garden is a swamp still!!! The ground actually squelches when you walk on it.. Then everyone stomps mud all over my kitchen.. the grass is about a foot long.. and I don't have any plants anyway.. I did pull the grass out from around my lavendar this afternoon though.. that was my gardening for the month..
I guess I could add a HHG (half hour gardening) to the lists???
