I'm not sure if this is really what you were looking for but in Tesco they have 5 meals for £4 in the frozen section. They're not all complete meals but the curry is really good!
As for meals for under £1, I like to get a slice of bread, put tomato pizza sauce on it, add a few different toppings (cheese, ham, chicken, anything really) and you get a pizza but on bread instead. And all my family love them! It doesnt even have to be expensive bread which makes it even better!.Sometimes.I.Wonder.Why.I'm.Still.Here..Sometimes.I.Think.I'm.Going.Crazy.0 -
bacon and pea risotto.
Fry up slices of bacon and then cut into sm. pieces. cook 150g of peas and puree. Fry a sm. onion (chopped) in a bit of butter, stir in 200g risotto rice and stir in pea puree. Add 1ltr stock (chicken or veg). Add 200g more peas and bacon. Put lid on and simmer for 25 mins. Add parmesan (or strong cheddar) before serving - Serves 4 at about 65p per head (and freezes well too):T0 -

focus888 - have a look at the chinese thread going on here at the mo - anything with noodles you can use these (or a couple of) for - just get rid of the flavour sachet (full of salt anyways!)

Marks and spencers do a pack of 8 sausages for 99p and also pack of 6 chicken drumsticks for 99p both make a great casserole with veggies and serve 6 if bulked out enough.0

Tip a Pot Noodle in a bowl and hey presto! Upmarket 'Singapore Chow Mein' for 85p!Profit=sanity

When I make stir frys I always use the cheapy noodles instead of buying the posh 'amoy' type ones.
For corned beef hash, I hate the spuds being mixed in with it - I usually have it on it's own actually. Fry off the onions, mix in the corned beef then add the beans and a splash of worcester sauce. Done. (as Gordon would say)
One of my favourites is a vegetable pasta bake
Chop up as chunky as you like (all costs approx as I don't actually know!):
Peppers (about a quid)
Mushrooms (30p)
Courgette (50p)
Boil up a load of pasta (50p)
Mix up the veg, pasta, and a tin of tomatoes (20p) in an oven dish.
Grate cheese over if you fancy, and stick in the oven for half an hour or so.
Costs about £2.50 and it easily serves 4 with big portions. I reckon you could get 6 comfortably.

I noticed on the labels about 5 weeks ago that they were discontinuing them, as well as the value flour? Havent been to check if its all gone. But with the flour prices etc now I suppose it would have.
I have often fed the whole family for less then £1 a head, and we eat well. But havent costed things of late, so I will have to come back to you on that one.
Sorry to take the thread slightly off tangent but I'd "heard" on here that Tesco were discontinuing their Value range in favour of stocking the same brands that Aldi do instead.
My favourite cheapie meal is bacon, onion and potato hotpot.
Chop up some strips of bacon, onion and dice some potato. Add several cloves of garlic and any other veg you fancy (courgettes work well) and cook in oven drizzled with olive oil
No offence but I can't be bothered to work out a cost but it's pretty cheap. If you wanted to add some other meat then I sometimes bung in diced chicken too.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Another addiction of mine is Pasta, beans and cheese. I buy the big 3kg bags of pasta which lasts me months, 1/3 can baked beans topped with the cheapest cheese grated over the top - YUM!0
