Cheap Smell-alikes - Cheaper alternatives to Expensive Perfumes

I find that perfume can change its smell from person to person. A friend was wearing a scent I admired but when I tried it on me, it was disgusting!
I like to change between fragrances from day to day or I feel your nose seems to ignore the smell. I wear what ever I am in the mood for that day.
Today I am wearing Ghost. Perfume Parlour version is Shadow. I have quite a "wardrobe" of different perfumes all from PP. I save the real thing for nights out or special occasions.
i really wanted to try some of the chanel perfumes so i bought no19 and no5 but they smell horrid on me so i gave them to my mum and i couldnt believe it they smelt completely different and lovely on her i also find some perfumes if you dont like them at first give them another try when you have just had a shower/bath i have found myself liking quite a few that i originally hated after putting some on straight after a shower0 -
i used to love ultraviolet as a teenager but now im in my mid twenties i cant stand it i guess it is right when people say your smell can change.
ive not worn ultraviolet for a loooong time now am in my mid twenties also and its definately true about changes in way things smell on you. i had about a six month stint of my perfumes not smelling right at all last year:eek: best way i can describe it is as if they had gone off... almost sour? thankfully theyre back to normal now but the only difference was probably being a bit stressed out working long hours (that was the only reason i could think of anyway)
also very true about other peoples perfumes smelling awful when you try them!!! had that a few times and its so annoying when you really like it too lol0 -

ive not managed to figure out how to quote 2 ppl in one post yet sorry. i used to have a few perfumes at the same time and its nice to be able to swap and change depending on my mood. i feel better wearing a bit of something but im down to my last few sprays of angel or demon and provocative woman and theyre a bit much for the daytime especially work. day off on tuesday so im going to make a list of all my new recommendations and head for the perfume section see if i cant come out smelling like a woolworths counter (cant really say that now can i lol) secretly hoping i dont like too many of them or ill have to make an order now and later list too!0 -
Hello everyone.
I was wondering if someone could tell me what actual musk smells like? I've seen it on fragrantica in nearly all the perfumes and was wondering what real musk smelt like (derived from musk deer), I know its used as a base note. I've got white musk but that's synthetic and the smell is most likely altered to suit consumers as its sold as unisex perfume. I've read somewhere that real musk has a faecal smell and is actually only good in a very diluted form, is this true? People had many similar comments regarding its smell ie it smells like mens body odour etc.
I had the same question regarding ambergris, what does it smell like? I wanted to buy the perfume oil, I have found a company in the UAE that produces it.
Another request I had was I was hoping someone could recommend me a cheap perfume oil alternative to a perfume oil called Sajwaa, here is the link describing the notes and the perfume ajmalperfume.com/sajwaa-prodident-35. I extremely love this,I really hope someone can recommend an alternative lol.
All help is greatly appreciated.0 -

Has anyone found one for Dand G rose the one?
The only replica for Rose The One I've seen is the Perfume Parlour one, but I didn't rate it at all. It was one of the few I didn't like from them. I had to bite the bullet and pay for the real thing....heavenly.Hello everyone.

Very few perfumes contain real musk anymore, even the major houses use synthetic musk because of the animal rights issue. I wouldn't want real musk tbh, for that reason, but I understand it does have a fecal smell, when you consider its obtained from a deers bum I suppose it makes sense
Ambergris is supposed to be sweet smelling as far as I know, but I've never found a real piece of ambergris to find out. Its another one that sounds quite revolting as its regurgitated by sperm whales but not obtained through cruelty. If the oil from UEA isn't horrendously expensive I say try it!0 -
Thanks again sofababe. Yes I contacted the seller and it turns out to be just a similar fragrance because as you said it is very expensive,I suspected this but I thought it me be an extremely diluted perfume. Still this similar fragrance is 36 ml £14, which is a bit on the dear end when compared to most perfume oils bought in the UK which are cheaper like perfume !!!!!! but these Arab brands are usually expensive.
I hope you can advise me of an alternative to the sajwaa perfume oil I posted above , i love that perfume dearly, its great.0 -

The best advice I can give you is to pop over to Fragrantica forums and ask in the Niche section, but whatever they come up with over there it'll be expensive, probably more expensive than Sajwaa. I'm not familiar with Arabian oils, I keep thinking I should try some on the PP site.0 -
Thank you sofababe.0

Hello I was wondering if someone could direct me to a sweet, spicy and floral perfume oil sold by anyone and also one sold by perfume Parlour, it would be preferable if the perfume oil was strong like Arab perfume oil. I would also like a recommendation for a rose, floral musky perfume oil.
Thanks again to all those who contribute. Greatly appreciated!0
