I am fainting now !!! and really really worried that how much it's gonna affect my credit at our current address !!!
Does the credit history follow the name, or the address !?
What shall I do. God knows how much does his !!!!!!'s debt is !!!
Anybody can help.. pls.. much appreciated !!!

Credit Scoring is on the person, not the address, so you don't have to worry.
By the way, it is illegal to open other peoples mail.0 -
Your credit rating is based on you as a person, plus anyone that you have a financial link to (e.g. applied for a mortgage together at some point, have a joint account etc). It's not based on your address so you can relax about that.
We also have a lot of post coming to the people that used to live here (from the looks of it there must have been about 15 of them in a 3 bed house judging by all the names they're addressed to!) and some of that is notification of debt too.
I just return the letters to the sender...0 -
It's him, not the address.
Call the people and tell them he's moved away. Every time I've had to do it I've heard nothing more.
It's only illegal to open other people's mail if you're planning something naughty.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

we had this when we moved into our house (previous owner moved to Turkey!) I started off with the post office, tell them he's moved and not to deliver any more mail for him (they will send it all back as "gone away"). You will still get letters (when your posties on holiday etc) so just write "gone away" across the envelope and put it back in the post box.
We had a couple of further letters from companies addressed to "the occupiers" and amazingly some phone calls, (even though ours was a new number) asking if we had a forwarding address, some i just said he'd moved to Turkey and some I gave the address of his solicitor who dealt with the house sale! this depended on what sort of mood I was in when they contacted me! lol
It has not affected our credit rating at all, but if you don't return the letters they may take it that he's still there and ignoring them, so they could proceed with court action etc. Get them all returned tomorrow and don't open any more! Call of Duty widow :rolleyes:0 -
thanks guys from all the promty reply.. I am glad to hear it won't affect me .. is it really true ? somehow remember people mentioning they couldn't apply for mortgage coz of bad credit of their current address. We decided to open other letters (keep receiving them for 6 months) after discovering a electricity bill under their name, they apparently, gave us different provider name on the information release form. Well, didn't expect to receive this court inform letter on Friday night !!!!.0

Return all the letters to senders. I used to open ones from parking fines /councils and balliffs as they don't take any notice if you just return the letters and then call them to tell them the person that owed them money hadn't lived there for xxx amount of time.
Although I really started doing that seriously after my flat was searched by four police officers one Sunday evening as someone with a skooter registered to my flat was involved in some criminal activities.Top wins in 2018: Trip to Iceland, helicopter ride over london, couples massage, £300 flight from Pringles, trip to Paris, cocktail making class and afternoon tea up the shard. .
Top wins in 2017:holiday to the Bahamas, trip to Paris, meal with champagne, a week in a manor house in France with £500 spending money.0 -

To be fair opening other peoples letter for curiousity is more rubbish as you put it than somone getting into financial mess. How can people be so irresposible ? How can you do what you did ? Yes you can justify it but that wa sdisgusting, no doubt now you will come up with all new reasons, but you are not a great person so don't judge other people.Nice to save.0 -

You really are being a drame queen over this. It was not your mail and all you had to do is write on it *return to sender addressee gone away*.
