For anyone that can't wait until next Thursday, the Release Candidate of Hardy Heron has been officially announced today (one day late)
http://releases.ubuntu.com/releases/8.04/
I'm downloading it now via a torrent (get 300kb/ps). I don't think I'll be ready to upgrade just yet, but I've got a spare partition to install it on for trying out other/new distro's.
It'll be virtually the same as the official release (bar some bug fixes, and translation changes etc...)
When will Google release Browser Sync for Firefox v3. Grrr.

I tried installing 8.04 on a virtual PC but it just wouldn't load up. Kept coming up with a processor error. Version 7 doesn't have a working mouse in Virtual PC. The only one that is reliable here is 6.06. Will version 8 work in a virtual pc environment?0

Unfortuantly virtual PC does not support non-Win32 O/S very well, install new HDD or create partition on existing HDD and install it, or use the live CD.I tried installing 8.04 on a virtual PC but it just wouldn't load up. Ubuntu works great on VMWare Workstation, you should try that.

Because of the unique nature of my Vista installation, any messing around with the MBR or partitions will render it unbootable. I might try vmware or I may even dig out my old 40GB IDE drive from the garage and put it on that.0 -

I'd try VirtualBox instead of VMWare. It's faster in terms of memory and disk I/O.
I run Linux and use VirtualBox to runs Vista, XP and BSD images."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

Ive installed the beta to a few machines and everything works, EVERYTHING.
Theres also now a proper control panel for your display drivers, and it comes with three years support.
