VM price increase - use it to break contract

Options
Virgin Media is increasing price from June 1st.

You can use this to break 12-months contract!

I did and they agreed to terminate my service :j
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

So is this price increase referring to Virgin Media(broadband, tv, home phone) or Virgin Mobile or both? Because the the first post seems to be referring to one whilst the second to the other?

Any help appreciated, would love to break my Virgin Media contract.

    Cheers

Hi, I'm on the ADSL broadband and talk package with Virgin. I have been trying to break contract for a couple of months now as speeds are worse than useless. Can I use these price changes to break out? The call price increase should affect me, but so far I haven't been contacted by Virgin to let me know about any changes to the T&C. Do I just need to wait for a letter?

I think the letters are being sent out by region (staggered drop), as there are so many customers.
    It'll turn up soon.
    I had mine last week.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

It's not the price increases that bother me so much, it's the quality of the service in this instance. So as soon as I get that letter, I'm free!

    Hi guys,

If Virgin are increasing their prices, then that would suggest that it is a change in the terms and conditions to your detriment, which means that they need to give you 30 days notice to accept the new terms and conditions, during which time you would be entitled to exit your contract early.

That's my non-legally trained understanding of it anyway!

Price increase comes into effect 1st June so everyone should be informed by the end of next week. (I rang to cancel and decided to stay after a new offer but was told about the price increase then).

Hi, Is anyone having any luck getting out of their virgin media contract with the price hike reason? I was also wondering if anyone had been offered any deals to stay with virgin, sky is loads cheaper at the moment since they are adding free sky sports (or free movies) and we are paying £18 a month for ours

I just rang the Virgin customer retention line and was informed that I could not break my contract as the price increase was within a 10% range, and therefore I had no case. I took all the relevant details and will write them a letter and take things further, but can anyone clarify what my rights are in this situation?

    Thanks.
