I may be biased as I work for Tesco but here in South Wales, The filling Stations automatically print a receipt and the staff ask you if you want it or not.
If elsewhere they don't, I have no idea why.
DP is right though, 99 out of every customer isn't interested in a receipt and over charges aren't possible as many stations close down, do the price change on the display and the pumps, they check that it corresponds and then re-open the filling stations.

It may not be like this everywhere but it's done this way here in my area and surrounding areas.

Just about every petrol station (at least 5 different companies) I've been to recently does this - just an unitemised CC receipt for the total. If I want a breakdown on a 'proper' receipt (and I don't) it is always produced on request.

But I'm not going to ask for it - I don't need it and it's a waste of paper. I think 95% of the country agree with me......

Just checked my five receipts for the month from three different Tesco stores and all show 99.9 on the receipt which is what was on the pump. Again I need VAT receipts for my expenses claims to my Company. So no problem here but I'll keep an eye out.
Cheers

Your 'DP' obviously stands for davepugh not DiscussionPoll :rotfl:

And OP just told us on 2 occassins he was overcharged so obviously it is not impossible. - But I will ask OP for further clarification.

The OP hasn't been around for 6 months, this was a bit of a thread resurrection from 2 years ago for some reason

I don't know whether anyone else has noticed this, but recently, Tesco have stopped printing receipts at their petrol stations.

What about pay @ pump? does the reciept come from below as usual?
Why don't people use pay@pump anyway - it really pees me off when people go inside to pay, doesn't just about everyone have plastic these days? What's wrong with you people?

But I digress.
You say you were overcharged twice. Price charged was different than the big display price - I can accept that. but you went on to say - price on the pump was different aswell? How can that be? Because the pump displays all the information price per litre, fuel type quantity and total price, and the computer is linked up to this so you should have been charged what was showing on the pump.

I agree with you that they should always issue reciepts and I agree that by law all reciepts issued should be VAT reciepts (where possible) this whole thing about being given non VAT reciepts is rediculous.

I have to say also that moose above, said in South Wales Tescos they do issue reciepts. Well not all the time they don't, I happen to be a bit of an obsessive when it comes to petrol reciepts, I like to check that everything is correct. Recently in Pontypridd Tesco, I was filling up and OH went to pay, as usual she came back with no reciept (just the credit card slip) she always comes back without a reciept and it annoys me soooo much. She just assumed the CC slip would be the reciept.

So OP crazychemist, I can sort of confirm that My last Tesco fill up (long time ago in September) also is not issuing reciepts, but as I usually go for p@p I don't think I will be noticing again whether they do or do not issue them in the kiosk. Maybe I should visit the kiosk on purpose just to see for myself that they don't issue reciepts anymore - or they atleast ask if you want one and that it is fully itemised <<< the important bit.

I just realised the p@p reciepts only come out if you tell the machine you want one - which is fair enough as long as they work!

Pay at pump prints a receipt IF requested and IF the **** thing hasn't run out of paper. Can't recall if it's itemised or not.

My old tesco credit card only worked on pay@pump for a few months and then stopped so I had to go into the shop. My new one works fine.

The keyfob barcode for the Tesco Clubcard they sent me can't be used with the pump card reader so to get the points, I have to use the till.

And I may want to buy something from inside the shop.

I gotta say, up to a few months ago I used to work for Tesco in various of its filling stations. We were told that we have to issue a basic receipt every time because we have mystery shoppers in. If you need a VAT receipt the only thing we can do is a handwritten one, although this should be changing.

About the different prices charged, as long as you are charged less than what is displayed there is no problem. However, if you are charged more than is displayed you can demand a refund (and 9/10 I've been told you need a receipt for this... they will NOT accept word of mouth - if you follow me).

The other thing that you probably dont know is there is a basic printer in the storeroom of every station that takes a record of EVERY petrol transaction, p@p or manual, so you can try and argue it if you know the time and date of when you took your petrol. Hope that this assists. :p
