yes i have had a similar episode. Idiot of a driver over took me 150m from roundabout over 2 white lines collided with me then carried on driving. i followed and he did pull over half a mile later, not that he wanted to but he realised he wasnt going to get away.
Police arnt at all interested so long as he swapped details. i wanted to persue a charge of dangerouse driving but with out witnesess they really are not going to do any thing. Not much damage done but its not the point!"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -
I remember once when i was driving, this car pulled out and i had to brake but i carried on driving and he came behind me. I was miffed and put my hand up and swore cos he nearly caused an accident. He then drove soo close to my rear bumper it wasnt funny, then at the roundabout he got out of his car and kicked it as i sped off, not wanting a confrontation! He then when right up my bum again and i was really scared what he would do. Thankfully he pulled off and i drove in the other direction to make sure we wouldnt meet again.
From what i went through, if someone had done this to me i would never follow them incase they did something worse! I was so scared, now if i was pregnant i think i would be even more so. I dont understand why you would follow a car that has done that to you!
As for the police, they have given him 7 days to bring in his details and deal with him then. If he doesnt show that he will get a court order or something like that, they dont say 7 days for nothing.0 -
Do you know this person? I'm just a bit confused as to why you think they deliberately ran you off the road, and why they would pursue you further? If they are enacting a vendetta against you, then you should tell the police this as it might encourage them to take things a bit more seriously. I hope you manage to get this sorted - it sounds horrible!
I don't know this person but he had been having a go at me for some reason then overtook me and hit the front of my car, ramming me up onto the pavement, thats what makes me think he done this deliberatly.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0 -

All they can do is report him to the courts and pursue a court action, they cant force him to stop driving etc and not get his car fixed
The chances of someone being remanded on these charges are minimal unless they have a serious history of violence
You seem pretty unreasonable about the polices power, finally you followed him at speed for several miles so im not convinced you were the little innocent party in this
They will have very little evidence too id imagine
They have told me that the report hasn't been followed up. I never said i followed him at speed for several miles! Whilst i was following him, my passenger was on the phone to 999 explaining everything and when i got to 40mph i slowed down, we told the police this. He was obviously doing at least 70mph. I wouldn't put my unborn baby at any risk and don't like the insinuation.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0 -

Any chance of changing your reg? - you seemed concerned that he might seek you out again.Genie

I can't change the number plate as its the plate which come with the car (not personal) but its a distinctive plate. which i can't afford to change
Why are most people assuming this is somehow my fault in some way? I did absolutley nothing to provoke this man. I have no idea why he did this and if i had of been on my own then i wouldn't have followed him.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0 -
Not sure if this is the right place to post but....
A few weeks ago some man deliberatly rammed me off the road then sped off. Thankfully, (apart from whiplash and a few other minor injuries) me and my passenger where ok but my car has now been in the garage nearly 2 weeks. On the day it happened we managed to get the car reg, make, colour and a very good description of the driver (the police said it was a 'known' car).
My car was still drivable so we followed the car for about 4/5 miles until he was driving at around 70 mph, overtaking many cars whilst people were crossing roads in rush hour. We went straight to the police station and reported it, i explained to the police that i was worried he might recognise my car and number plate (both rather distinctive) and try and do it again and as i was 34 weeks pregnant at the time, i could do without the stress. A few days after we reported it, i went to the police station and they said they know where the car is registered (its a motorbility car) but they haven't been to see him, they wouldn't say why and won't tell me anything else. Now just over 2 weeks later, i have seen the car driving around, his car has been fixed and i'm worried that when i get my car back(i have a courtesy car) he'll see me.
I straight away phoned up the police station but i got transferred from here to there and got no where apart from being told, he'll get a letter asking him to produce his documents at a police station within 7 days. Now, i don't know what to do, my partner says i need to make a complaint against them.
Can anyone give me any advice please?
I think there's a number of things you could do, firstly contact your MP and tell him/her about the police inaction. Secondly if the car is a Motability vehicle and was being driven by the authorised driver and not stolen, write to the DVLC mentioning the dangerous driving activities this person was engaged in - with maybe a copy to the DSS - if they can drive like a racing driver should they really be claiming Disability Living Allowance?:rotfl: Ask the police in writing exactly what they are doing to pursue this case, since you were injured, he's committed a crime and you need to be able to claim against him.
Finally a woman who is run off the road at 34 weeks pregnant by a driver the police aren't willing to prosecute is a good news story - ring your local newspaper. Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

Unity - i think going to the press ect is a last resort if you feel 100% that no action is being taken by the police, or you feel that they arent doing the job properly.0

A lot of assumptions in your post
At no were has she said the police arent prosecuting or doing anything with any fact
Crimninal court cases take a damn site longer than 1 week to come to fruition0
