Having Broadband Problems?

After being on the forum for a VERY long time (Got my bank charges back Thanks Very Much
) I've decided to help users out.
I'm an ex ISP Engineer (Not a Tech Support Monkey.....) and I'm offering my help if you have any problems with Broadband.
Drop me a PM with your problem and I'll try to point you in the right direction before you have to ring any stupid 0871 numbers and hold for 30 minutes before having to then speak to a script reading monkey.
Look forward to hearing from lots of you soon ;-)

good on you, possibly more useful if the questions asked on the open forum though, then others can take the same advice, and save you answering the same question 50 times (though it won't
)

Well I'm gonna write a topic that can be stickied (if possible) as the 1st steps on EVERY ISP are the same..... have you done this, blah blah blah.
If you can do these tests before you ring them it saves you 90% of the call time you spend.
I'll also try explain how ADSL works in laments terms for the techno-illilterate (No offense).0 -
Good luck, if the mods have the sense to take you up on it, it would be a valuable addition to the forum, and save some of us the bother of typing the same answer repeatedly. i tried having a few links in my sig (check your wiring, samknows.com etc) but mods removed them.
while you're here, can you confirm/deny that exchange level contention on max is considered no longer an issue by bt, though certain ISPs may try to deny this to hide p.poor backhaul?
Which ISP, btw?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

Contention isn't an issue anymore per say, however the Virtual Paths are running very hot on quite a few exchanges I've seen recently.
Because of this more and more ISP are prefering to provision circuits onto DataStream so they control the VP's.
I worked technically for Nildram but supported:
Nildram IPStream/IPStreamMax,
Nildram DataStream
Nildram LLU (Some on Pipex LLU & some on Tiscali's LLU)
Freedom2Surf (on Pipex LLU)
Pipex Business (on DataStream & Tiscali LLU)
As such I'm familar with the backhaul of BT Wholesale, Pipex & Tiscali :P0 -

Poor man, i used to work for BTW & Tiscali/Pipex were quite possibly one of the worst to deal with.0 -

Have I perchance stumbled upon foreign shores? Can't understand a bloomin' word....:D
No, in all seriousness I think that's very generous of you. I'm sure you will have a queue of people asking for your help once word gets around.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
Having massive problems with wireless connection and Orange blaming next doors plasma television sending out rogue signals is this possible ?0

If it's any consolation, I also used to work for Tiscali so I understand your pain.
I don't think I'd agree with more connections going over datastream these days though. Certainly masses more connections on LLU though!“Official Company Representative

How long has next door had there tv and how long have you had your problem?
