Proof of Income? That's different. Never heard of any CC issuer asking to see such evidence before. Mileage may vary between applicants I guess.0

What do you mean 'mileage'? I would have thought most credit card issuers (unless they are your own bank) would ask you to prove your income before giving you a credit card?skyrider007 wrote: »Proof of Income? That's different. Although Nationwide didn't with me... maybe that is because they don't have a min income? Also, with my app. to Amex part of my stated income was from a trust and part was my salary, so maybe they needed me to prove it because of that.Kavanne

I've never been asked for proof of income from Credit Card companies in over 17 years.
It would be a little tricky anyway now as I am self employed

Hi All,
I just applied for a American Express Gold Charge Card, and got the following message;
"We are delighted to welcome you to American Express.
Your application for the Gold Card has been approved, conditional on our conducting some further checks to meet our legal obligations. You will hear from us with in the next 10 working days"
Does this mean that I have been approved as I dont understand what "conducting some further checks to meet our legal obligations" means, or is this standard text?
Regards

Congrats. I think the original Green charge card is better value than the Gold card. Benefits are pretty much the same. They're charging you for the snobbishness of the Gold card. Save your self 40 quids a year!0

Hmmm, I rang them yesterday, and they are still waiting for a decision!!
Makes me wonder if i was really approved! :rolleyes:0
