Moderating Changes

Thought I would let regulars know of some Moderating changes before it becomes official.
Abuse Controller: The old moderator system has been replaced by an Abuse Controller (the name change is due to take place soon). There is currently one person who will be doing this as paid work, rather than the old stipend volunteer system.
As part of this the Abuse Controller will not be posting on the boards in any other guise. They will only be on the boards in this capacity.
This means there are two levels of reports you can make
1. Spam, Libel, Offensive Language: Please use the abuse@moneysavingexpert.com email which goes to all members of the team so we can react quickly
2. Not sures, issues between members: Sadly the number of 'spats' on the site between regulars is growing. Many of these come to me to referree, something i simply do not have the time to deal with. Frankly it is my wish that people would simply relax.
I am rather concerned of a tribal system growing up with people grouping together into teams. This really is unnecessary and i hope in time everything will calm down and it stops. It's rather sad and it's hurting the site, and both sides are equally responsible as far as i'm concerned.
However when this does happen - you can send a PM to the abuse controller (currently PMing the mod goes through to the abuse controller). And he will deal with this.
3. Board Guides: Just to confirm the board guides are NOT moderators. Unfortunately the software currently calls them that - but we're working on a change. The aim of the guides is to make the board easier to use. While they have moderator powers and can delete posts. This is for easy spamming and abuse. Otherwise it can go to the abuse controller.
Hope this all makes sense

What I meant was will the "Abuse Controller" be the same person as the "Board Guide"? Or will one person be both? ie. both jobs merged into one?0 -
It sounds like there will be a seperate "Abuse Controller" whom will NOT post on the boards.0
-
then there will be seperate board guides?0
-
Yes the idea is there will be one Abuse Controller - who is part of the MSE team (possibly with a deputy also someone who does not ever post on the boards)
Then each board will have a volunteer guide - much like Pal or Galstonian are now. However the guides are not part of the abuse control team and it will state that they are volunteers.
Hopefully this way we'll manage to keep things working smoothly and cut down much of the issues. Plus it will stop me having to referree scraps
