    LEEDS-based housing firm Consort Homes fell victim to the squeeze in the UK housing market today when it called in administrators.
    Administrators from KPMG have taken over the main companies within the group, which has a second base in Paisley, Scotland, following a request from Consort's directors.

    A spokeswoman at KPMG said administrators Mark Firmin and Richard Fleming and, in Scotland, Blair Nimmo, from KPMG's restructuring practice were currently reviewing the options available to the business and intended to
    market the business and assets for sale.

    Consort is privately owned and its headquarters is in Featherbank Court, Horsforth.

    It employs 46 people, largely in management, sales and administrative roles.

    The company has a turnover of £22m and has ten active development sites, all in Yorkshire and Scotland.

    Joint administrator and KPMG restructuring partner, Mark Firmin, said: "Since the onset of the credit crunch, market conditions have been difficult and the group has been a victim of the slow-down in the housing sector.

    "The reduction in activity in this sector is due to the combination of a lack of consumer confidence in the property market and the limited access to mortgage funds for prospective purchasers.

    "We will be writing to all affected parties, including contractors and customers, advising them of the situation whilst we review the options for the business."

    as someone mentioned about more sellers than buyers is because so many products available to buyers are been withdrawn which means the target audience of whom your trying to sell to has declined and because there are more difficulties in obtaining a mortgage now. Mannings do have a good track record and are one of the few estate agents who DO chase up viewings. I spend my life as a relocation agent viewing properties and you would be surprised how many estate NEVER ask for your feed back, as a seller how do know why people are not viewing if no-one asks?

    I would say that if people are not coming through the door, it is the price, because if the price was right you'd get footfall, if your getting the footfall and negative feedback, it might be something such as the decor that needs to be altered. Many people make this mistake that because they are moving that they wont re-decorate, but this can be sometimes all thats needed?!

    I would reduce the asking price buy £5,000. You could be surprised what a price reduction can do, it can often bring more potential buyers in and you maybe fortunate they 2 make offers which increases the asking price to something your more willing to accept.

    Also rememeber, a reduction in your selling amount also means your likely to see a reduction in what ever your keen on moving onto?!
