  • skintcatt, loved your menu plan, lots of new meal ideas for me to try.

Your plan is set up exactly like my one - with an active family you do need to know who is where as this gives you an idea of who's in and how much time/effort you can put in to the meals for that day.

    Two questions, Skint_Catt:

    1. What does the "Skittles" at the top right mean? I know I'm being nosey, but the curiosity is killing me!

    2. Why are there no lunches planned for the weekends? Just my curiosity again :o

If you really want your husband to feel "spoiled" and use up leftovers at the same time , get a large yorkshire pudding and fill with left over bits of meat or veg and have gravy on the side.

    It looks huge!!!

I sometimes make my own thin pancakes, then add chopped cooked onion, tomato, , bacon, cheese - whatever bits are around then top with grated cheese and bake.

I have just put a huge split pea and gammon soup in the slow cooker for tonight. I used to put it on to cook the evening before until I caught DH scoffing curry at 7 a.m.!

Until I realised he regarded the slow cooker as a "magical cook pot" where food miraculously appeared, I thought my slow cooker was faulty and the food was somehow shrinking!;)

    Hi Elona,

I love that story about your family and the slow cooker! I could do with some tips on using mine actually....... ;)

I've got a bacon joint coming in my food order on monday, and some lentils / split peas in the cupboard. How would i go about cooking the gammon and making the soup?

The yorkshire pudding filled with bits and bobs is a very good idea - OH loves yorkies and is the yorkshire pudding making king in our house!

    Hello Falady,

You mentioned that your OH does not like pizza...my preference for pizza is the deep pan style, and used to make my own bases in my bread machine.
Today, my BEST is good enough.

Skittles means we were out with OH's work having a game of skittles and a meal out.

No lunches as we often don't bother. We have brekkie (often a large cooked), go out all day and then home for dinner.
