Seriously now, I have nothing against Banks/Lenders etc. We all need them but we thought we could put our trust into them and at a time when we really needed help as most of us needed loans we were taken advantage of. Thats the bit i can't understand. They owed us a duty and most of us respected these people but i must admit i have lost most respect for them now.

I bank with the co-op now and have done for 15 years and i hope that this complaint against them does not give me trouble with my future banking. I am not asking for anything other than what is right, proper and fair in my eyes and expect to be treated right, proper and fair in the future.
Me to - I trained to be a teacher - took me 6 years, I have 5 sons (one was at Uni) - we needed to live on credit - just to get us through - but our bank at the time Woolwich which we had been with for over 15 years decided to start charging us for everything - they pulled the rug from under us - stopped our overdraft- and it started to spiral out of control - FP offered us a loan to pay back cc and a loan for a car (which was subsequently set on fire by some ****) We are no angels - BUT we have learnt our lesson - NEVER EVER AGAIN!!! :D

the reason being is that they've admitted the sale of loans is not profitable unless they sell a ppi as well - that's why they push them so much - I applied for a loan a couple of months ago and they guy really pushed it - but I think he'd chosen the wrong person with me - I kept asking him whether it was compulsory !!!!

When First Plus offered me a second top up, I went through all the figures with the rep and he then tried to sell me PPI. I said "I don't want the insurance" and he just said "ok then" and that was that, so I think they are learning. Maybe that's why they have stopped giving loans if, as you say, they only make money on the PPI.

maybe - but barclays had been trying to flog them off since they bought them - they got them when they bought the Woolwich - I think they've been embarrassed to be associated with them ever since and it was a Barclays manager who pulled the plug on them !!

Barclays seem to be taking over the world. Funny thing is the FP PPI was through Barclays Insurance anyway so they can't have been that embarrassed!

It didn't used to be before they changed the t and c's. It was their own policies called cashback.

  • Help, my husband purchased a car 3yrs ago & was sold a PPI, however, we have now discovered that the policy does not cover any problems related to Type 1 diabetes (diagnosed 35yrs ago), We wrote to the PPI co. who promtly responded that they are just an admisitrator and played no part in the sale of the polcy, they are therefore passing responsibility to the garage who sold us the policy. Does anyone have any advice for us?

If your complaint is about misselling then you have to take your complaint to the firm that actually sold the policy. Do you know who it was??
