How much is your claim for? If they are offering to settle, you may be able to negotiate for some more. ;) Have a look on the success thread to see if anyone else has had this happen to them?

Changing the subject, when you sent a letter to solicitors re: cpr 18.1, did you word it exactly the same as what was written on the post? I am going to request the information without using cpr 18.1 to see how they respond.

    Thanks for your help!

 My claim is for just over £4000. The soliocitors have offered me £1000. It is not the money but the principle of the thing.
When I sent my letter to the solicitors - I did as Tiggrae suggested - ie CPR 18.1. It will be interesting to see what they respond.

    Hi Maisy
Have you sent any letters yet or requested the SAR?
These are generally the first steps to take.

Use Martins template letter to complain to NatWest re: the mis-sold PPI highlighting whatever is specific to your case.....
....... and there is a very good template letter courtesy of Laini for the SAR request letter (post #412 on page 21).
Remember, you must include £10 cheque /postal order for your SAR.

It is always recommended to send any letters by Registered Post to comply with legislative timescales.
I haven't sent any letters yet or requested the SAR. I didn't know wether to complain or not because not many people seem to have taken Natwest on but I want my money back. Thanks Kaia

Maybe I am being sceptical, but it sounds to me like they are trying to catch you out by getting you to put in writing that you knew about the PPI etc.

Alternatively, it could just be fact finding prior to a refund.

Personally I would not trust it and would advise you to be really careful how you answer it!

Yep, I have been REALLY careful with answering these questions. I have refused to answer them at all.:rotfl:

Apart from the question asking if I have anything else I wish for them to investigate, I have told them I want the info about the rodent problem in writing, and copies of my original documents in the post since I had not rec'd either yet.
    :(

That certainly made me chuckle, cant get more careful than that! :rotfl:

Have they taken longer than 40 days? I have a complaint with the info commissioner as Lloyds ignoring my request for another loan document but have not heard a thing in 2 months, even when I emailed them. Hope they send you your stuff soon.

If your docs have little teeth marks in, have a real good look as I would not put it past them to have a nibble to back up their story

    Hi
That is a measly offer and if it were my claim I would tell them to poke it. You are right, it is the principle and it makes my blood boil that I have been ripped off, so you go for it. There is still a few weeks to go before your case so there is no real rush.

No, not yet I sent my first letter 12th April, so they have replied well within the timescales. If i get the docs this week though that will be pushing it a bit

Won't be able to tell though will I? As pretty much most Natwest employees are vermin:D
