there's no difference between making a reclaim for a loan sold over the internet as to a 'normal' loan. As for being self employed, if you pay category 2 NI you should check the policy details as you're probably covered, if not you'll almost definately won't be covered by the PPI and therefore, it's been mis sold
I have looked through all the paperwork I have and there is not information of what is covered and what is not regarding being self-employed. I have just checked out their website (which is up to date, unlike the loan which is 5 years into a 10 year period) and I am unsre if I would be covered or not. It says that I would not be covered if I am self employed and my business stops trading either voluntary or temperary.
Is it worth a letter anyway?0 -

Hi
Can anyone advise on my next step, I have recently successfully claimed for PPI against a loan I took out with HSBC in 2004, this was a top up loan for one I had taken out previously in June 2003, so I thought I might as well have a go at getting PPI back on this as well but as I no longer had the details have asked HSBC for copies of the agreement, this I have now done twice without any response, any help or advise on my next step would be appreciated.0 -

Can they prove this ?
I would ask if you have not done already if they can provide you with a copy of the telephone recordings, if this was sold after 2005 and sold over the telephone then they should have the recordings.
What about a SAR ?
If you have not one of these, I would request this where they will as you know provide everything they have on you, phone calls too.
This may make them think again.;)
If this was your final response I would FOS them, if not ask them for the recordings.;)
Good luck and just keep fighting.
Di xx
Thanks Di,
I originally done the SAR with GE Money home lending, who then said it was loans.co.uk who brokered the loan, the SAR I got from GE only had a breakdown of payments and some screen grabs from what looked like an access database, also written down lists of telephone conversations, but no recordings for me to listen to, but the loans was taken out in June 2003. So it looks like its the FOS, as I get upto 2 years sick pay from work & also 2 years death in service pay, so PPI would not be suitable for my circumstances.
Hi Sparky
Don't want you to waste your time going to FOS against GE - I did and my loan was November 2004 - they said they were not covered in November 04 and so FOS could not help with my claim. I even tried ringing and seeing if I could get them to look into it if it was GE Capital trading as GE Home finance and was told no as it was prior to 2005.Angel 1972 :A

Hi there Owls, we won a claim or 2 over the last few months to which have pushed me to get on with others, that were mis sold for the same reasons, if this is the case with you then yep I would go for it.;)
If you do not have paperwork, you could request these, but when I have not come across my documents I've had to send a £10 cheque payment for a Subject Access Request where they have to forward everything they have on you, if joint accounts and you want information on both of you some companies require for 2 x £10 each.
There is SAR (subject access request) on this site somewhere posted in by Laini, if you can't find it let us know.
You could also try contacting the company to see if they will forward anything free of charge before you request the SAR.;)
If you do request the SAR they must comply within 40 days of on the day they receive this and please post by recorded post in the post office where they will give a slip with the tracking numberm this can then be checked out for then the company receive the letter.;) .
Good luck.

I posted last week with my last ditch letter to GE Life about the PPI on 3 loans I had and I was about to send it but when I got home that evening GE had written to me to say they were not present at the time the 2004 policy was sold to me but believed it was not missold as there was a tick in the pPI box and I'd signed the form (it was a computer tick not mine) but that as the loan had been repaid early they would issue me a propotionate refund, plus they'd already done an incorrect refund but that as I had been ignored and messed about since November 2007 they would make the proportional refund amount in addition to the miscalculated refund they'd already made.
)
I've decided to accept the refund and am now writitng to ask for proportioante refunds on my other 2 PPI policies and each of those policies was repaid within 2 years and so have over 3 years where I had no use for the policy so fingers crossed I get refunds on those as well.Angel 1972 :A

Yes very good point Angel, if you know yourself they were not regulated it by either GISC or FSA which as you know the FSA did not come into it until from Jan 2005, will possibly be a waste of time.
I also had this problem with one of mine with Endeavour Personal Finance, but trying for the unfair rebate settlement instead of the mis selling part where the FOS should look at those side of things, regulated or not to my knowledge, but not he mis selling part.;)
Thanks hun.;)

Hi I was hoping someone could help me out and tell me where I need to send the PPI reclaim letters to? I am trying to reclaim PPI mis-sold for:
Capital One Credit Card
Nationwide Credit Card
Skycard Credit Card
Aqua Credit Card
I am also doing my husbands and he has:
Vanquis Credit Card
Tesco Credit Card
I would also like to know how I find out if I have PPI on loans I have taken out via Currys for electrical purchases, I dont recall being asked ever but it seems that doesnt surprise me I never have been hence why I am reclaiming!
The companies connected to Currys are:
HFC
and
Barclays Partner Finance
Barclays Partner Finance were known as Clydesdale Financial Services until a couple of months ago when they switched names. Would I have to make 2 claims as there were 2 companies involved for the 1 loan or would Barclays Partner Finance be capable (:rotfl: ) of sorting it all out for me?
Many thanks.0
