PPI Reclaiming discussion Part II

They could only provide dribs and drans of information on the SAR with apologies for not having all the details. The chances of them digging up a supposed telephone conversation from 2000 will I would think be very unlikely. They gave me a telephone number to ring if I wanted to continue my claim. Should I ring the number or just write? Probably better to write as I'm still fuming.
I appreciate that they will fight, but surely the fact that I have signed documentary evidence whereas they have simply heresay of a telephone call makes the fight worthwhile.
Thanks again Marshallka I'll have to send you some money for a drink if we succeed s I've little doubt your advice would cost a packet if I went to a solicitor.
ps My advice is all from the good people on here and just passing it on. Lots of us are in the same boat here. My own claim is from Jan 2000 and settled in April 2003 so i know how hard they are backdating to there. I have not won yet but i will not give up.0 -
Sorry to put a spanner in the works chipbeck but neither the FO or FLA will be able to help you with GE as they weren't regulated by anyone at the time.
I'm in the same boat and it's very frustrating knowing my probable only outcome is court.
In my case it's not much of a claim but it's the principal as they seem to continually mess people about.0 -

Thank you one and all. Have not posted on other thread yet as awaiting final settlement figure but was so glad to have beaten the big guys.
I think the one thing in all their letters they sent to me which really made me angry   was their line "sorry this is not the response that you wanted..."
I now say to them "sorry that was not the outcome that you wanted!!!!"lol:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::mad:0 -

The wifes claim will be for over a grand so it's worth chasing. I agree with your point on principal, don't think they'd let you off if you'd done it to them.

Just googled welcome and whether they were regulated by the GISC at the time of your complaint and it looks as though they were not so the FOS may not be able to help. It may have to be the court route. I will do some more research later after lunch.
Hi everyone
Some good news. In the Mail on Sunday today, there is a big article about mis selling of PPI.
Guess which company was actually mentioned by name??????? Yes you've guessed it Freedom Finance.!!!!!!!!!!:j :j :j :j :j :j
Sorry, can't post a link, but everyone carry on with your claims, as this is the only way to get your money back and don't give up.
Apparently the FSA has been inundated with complaints. So keep up the good work.0 -

Do go down the court route, it is very scary for individuals taking on large companies. That is what they think will put people off. But go for it.:T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T0 -
Hi, don't know the ins and outs of your claim, but you need to carry on. I was of the opinion that it's the principle of the thing. My loan is with GE Money, but Freedom Finance sold me the PPI. I took it to court, as neither were regulated by FSA in 2003. My court date was for July 1st 2008, and on Thursday 12th June, the solicitors emailed me with the claim amount that I asked for.

Just registered both myself and my husband with experian for a free credit report and noticed that Firstplus only did a credit check on us after they had given us the loan. Is this generally how they do it. I thought that was how they worked out your APR on your loan. The typical was about 7% when we applied and they gave us 13.9%.
I swear that the broker Freedom Finance fiddled it to get the loan. There is a completely different employer on file with firstplus than my husbands one that he put on the application. I have asked the FOS to check this out. We gave the correct info on the application and now i think (as i remember being told by Firstplus during a phone call that has conveniently disappeared) that my husbands wages were almost double what they were and i told her they had it wrong. We should not probably have had the loan in the first place. This all stinks by both Freedom and Firstplus.0 -
is anyone else having issues with the financial ombudsman taking ages to assign anyone to look at their case?
My claim for egg has been with the for over 3 months and they keep sending me letters saying they still have been unable to assign anyone to look into this
They were brilliant before with my HSBC claim which was resolved within a month - just wondered why this one is taking so long - i'm guessing because of the sheer volume of claims - but was wondering if anyone else if having the same issue
