the do have a UK consumer credit licence - that's not the point - it's the fact they are based in Gibraltar - taking them to court is no problem, but getting them to pay up after a Judgement is made is - UK bailiffs have no jurisdiction to seize goods in Gibralter !!!

Well if they did not abide by a decision made by a court of law, then you would have to report them to the OFT on the basis that they are effectively lawless. I cannot see that they would be allowed to continue to operate a CCL where they refuse to deal inline with a UK court. Everybody would do that then.

My thoughts are well known on here - PPI is small change to what people could get back from these companies that are happy to lend outside of the law. I would go for that and get those in the UK. No getting around that then is there.

I think many people responded to these Firstplus adverts because of Carol Vorderman promoting them, "a trusted celeb" so to speak.
I wonder if she realises the devastation they leave behind?
....these companies taking hundreds and thousands of pounds of peoples hard earned cash with no chance of them ever claiming on these policies, while charging interest on them for the life of the loan.
Does she still do these adverts? I am sure I saw one the other day on telly.
Someone needs to fully inform her what goes on! Maybe she woudnt be so quick to promote them then !

I think Martin did.... She is that good at maths, I think she realised that the money she earned from her appearances on TV would more than cover her guilt and need for a loan again.

What was the last TV deal she had - £5m seems to stick in my mind. All for being able to do a bit of maths on countdown. Even I get them before her sometimes.

Yes, I have had reports today that IFA complaints are down and lender complaints are up but this will account for a lot of it I bet.

I do not understand people that use claims management companies where part of their money is taken for the cost.

If a claims management company has to goto the FOS, the FOS will not allow them to add their costs on top or should I say, compensate the consumer for the additional costs incurred of employing somebody.

Be very wary of these types of companies.

Hi Marshallka, let me know what you find out - I'm quite enraged about this, absolutely certain it's a smokescreen set up to avoid having to repay on mis selling - as to the County Court - you'de need to prove it was Freedom who sold the product to you - this should be easy enough through a SAR - but be aware if you do start proceedings against Freedom their solicitors will attempt to have the claim struck out as being nothing to do with them !!!

Just received this from the FOS in GIBRALTAR

Dear Mr and Mrs

Thank you for your enquiry.

I can confirm that Bespoke Finance Limited is not regulated by this Commission.
Bespoke Finance Limited is a Gibraltar company (Incorporation No.60921). You can obtain further details about the company from Companies House in Gibraltar (www.companieshouse.gi)
Loan finance (lending) is not a regulated activity in Gibraltar and therefore this Commission has a very limited locus in this matter.
Yours sincerely.

This about Bespoke is just a scam by Freedom Finance. Surely this is a legal matter that the FOS SHOULD deal with. Firstplus ALLOWED this to go on in the firstplace and after all it was them that they were selling for. I cannot believe that they should be allowed to get away with this. I have a hunch that all us that think we rang Firstplus in the first place and now are told went through a broker may not have gone through a broker. It just all seems very fishy. Have Firstplus sold the loans and got some sort of deal going with this company knowing that we have not got a leg to stand on. So much is getting unbelievable. I have yet for either of them to prove freedom finances?bespoke finances involvement at the time of the actual loan.

Look I work for a company making reclaims for people - I've actually got money back for people who have had their claim thrown out by the FOS because the client made a mistake in their complaint -or they made a mistake in trying to start court proceedings - there are A LOT of people out there to whom making a reclaim is a mystery, even after being on this site - I also have won cases in court where again the individual would have had no idea what to do or what to put on their particular of claim - we offer a very valuable service to clients who wouldn't have got a penny back if it hadn't have been for us !!!!!
