Thank you so much to everyone. Can't believe how quick you all are and how much knowledge you all have. At least that is one thing off my mind now and can send that letter off tomorrow. Can't believe First Plus - why oh why did we ever think it could help us!!!! The other thing I am confused about is the fact that my hubby has always been self employed yet they are stating that the PPI would cover him - bit confused on that part. Anyways get that letter off first class tomorrow and wait for the outcome. Once again a huge thank you.

Your very very welcome sweetie and we have all been there, and know what these companies are like, its all for their own ends and not sold in our interest.

If you are paying class 2 NI contributions then they do sometimes cover you for self employment and also if you have been in continuous employment for six months too. You would have to check your T and C's for this one.

Good Luck with Barclays Firstplus. :D

    Not enough though maxdp

The Office of Fair Trading said that the average claims ratio in the personal loans PPI market was 18%. If this is representative of A&L's business then Burgess said the bank would have received £265m in premiums, paid out £48m in claims, paid out £7m to the FSA and be left with £210m to pay for its overheads on the business and carry out the remedial work that the regulator has demanded.

That was only for a 3 year period from January, 2005 to December, 2007

The FSA said the company qualified for a 30% reduction in the penalty by settling at an early stage of the FSA's investigation. Were it not for this discount, the FSA said the penalty would have been £10m. (its good when they have the money to settle straight away and have a reduction in the fine:mad: )

Thanks hun, I have a few claims to sort out with these and some in with the FOS between mine and hubbys.
Tiggrae or Marshallka are good with calculations and keep an eye on these posts hun and something should be posted soon.;)

The reason why I ask is because if for some reason you had to complain to the FOS its best to know that these finance companies were under jurisdiction (covered by GISC) prior to Jan 2005 of when the FSA taken over, then the ombudsman will be able to investigate your complaint then.;)
