Anyway, I have spoken to my solicitor and she is going to speak to their civil litigation department with regard to what steps are needed get him out. I should hear from them tomorrow.
Instead of hearing back from my solicitor on the Friday, I got a brief e-mail the following Monday saying she'd write me a proper e-mail the next day. I hadn't heard from her by Wednesday so e-mailed her and said not to bother.

Also, ex himself has declared that he'll be out of the house by next Friday. As much as I'd like to breathe a sigh of relief about this, I will take it with a pinch of salt knowing his historical truth-aversion.
Hurrah! He's gone! He's left plenty of his stuff behind and I've still given him a week to collect it but he and the dog are now no longer living at the house. The next two or three weeks will now revolve around bleach, white & magnolia paint and skips!:j

Thanks for everyone's comments and words of wisdom. They were greatly appreciated. :T
