I perhaps thought it was a special hidden bargain give away for promotional purposes. They had an extra special bargain item to be found on their website at an astonishing "WOW" price if you could find it. ;o)

That did cross my mind at the weekend. Made me think of the ebay treasure hunt at Christmas.

Well ive just phoned Homebase customer services, didnt quote my order number or name and asked what was going to happne about the 49p tellys. Her answer was they are dealing with it now and everyone will be receiving a phone call or email to say the order is cancelled and will be getting a refund. I asked about had a contract been made because they had taken the money and she said no because of the t&c's. She quoted term 4.2 which ive not checked yet but i then said are your t&c's valid in law then and she said thay had all the top management in to discuss it and that is whats happening.
I shall now phone my legal advice line and see what they say now and if they will take the case on. Once and for all something should be done so they dont think they can do as they like and take our money, hold onto it for however many days and then just give it back.

I find this thread amazing. I ordered a 49p television from Argos as a laugh and a bit of wishful thinking as I am sure did many others. I cannot believe that some of you are taking it so seriously and legal action....has the world gone mad? We all knew really that it was an error and that we would not be getting them. Surely it is time for common sense to kick in? (I am running for cover now!)

    Believe it.

    It's MSE after all.

I wouldn't be surprised if on top of the TV a few make an additional damages claim, saying that they had to pay ebay fees but didn't have the TVs in time ....

I don't thinks it's about getting the telly for 49p, It's about waking companies like argos up. Argos seem to make too many of these pricing errors for it to be just a "Mistake"....They should of learnt from their mistakes first time round, If people don't speak up against them now then they are just going to carry on making their "mistakes" and and pocketing the extra money from the interest earned on OUR money.

I know what you mean but why take our money then if you are not going to honour the order. If they hadnt taken the money then fair enough and cancel but thats what i find annoying.
