Twice as fast as what i have now plus £7 a month cheeper!
theres gotta be a catch somewhere.....nope cant find one!!
I'm thinking of doing the same, but
Firstly, is it unlimited - I remember a while back they had a "soft cap" on the entry level service
and Secondly, I moved house back in April and had to start a new 12 month contract. Is there anything to stop me downgrading within the first 12 months?0 -
I'm with Telewest on their 512k for £17.99 and it is unlimited (they make a song and dance about it because a lot of other bb providers have caps for this price). I have no complaints about their bb except ongoing email problems a couple of months ago which (touch wood) has been ok past couple of months since they upgraded their email servers.
I could see nothing on their website with regards to a "catch" somewhere but what I suspect is that a couple months later they'll increase their bb monthly cost.
This upgrade to their network is going to cost t'west a lot of money I can imagine and they have done this because NTL have just upgraded their bb but of course we all know that NTL have caps in place whereas telewest don't.
£17.99 for a 2mb unlimited connection (ie no caps or traffic priority in place) would surely be one of only a very, very few that do it at this price. The only limitation I can see is that you have to be in a telewest enabled area.
I'm not sure that those that are within their minimum term can downgrade from 1mb+ to their 512k service.
If I can make a suggestion and that is for those that are within their minimum term is to downgrade to 512k now (if they'll let you) stating financial problems. The reason is it will be too suspicious downgrading after they've just upgraded their network and for those outside their minimum term then telewest probably can't do much but for those still within it then they may just say no you cant downgrade until after minimum term.
Remember, they must be expecting a lot of their customers on the 1mb package to downgrade to save over £5 for the exact same bb speed as they were on before and they are obviously not going to like this.0 -
You can downgrade your package if you have only just had TW are are still in your min contract, even when they introduce new speeds. As far as i know their t+c wont even change.
The whole point of this is their will be no catches. That's the way blueyonder has always gone i.e no caps.
HTH's
Their is no soft cap on the 512k service any more, and when TW did state the 750mb limit on their web page it was only recomemded, and never enforced, just used to make people sign up to the 1mb service.0 -
We have been with blueyonder for a number of years and always found their technical support (when needed- not often) excellent. Call centre is in the uk, which is a great help when trying to get a problem solved. I have seen cheaper packages out there but not with out their problems - Bt has Indian based call centre, friend spent 40 mins on a peak rate call to them and was none the wiser!!
Better the devil you know I think . Does anyone know what the 3mb service will upgrade to?No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:
Officially Mortgage free 31/07/2017 , 12 years early :j0 -
Don't think there is a 3MB connection, think its only 2 & 4MB not that it matters as they will be be upgraded to a whopping 10MB service!!!
