Also on o2, if you top up £15 a month you can have unlimited texts. So that leaves her with £15 credit for calls woo
I have unlimited texts on contract with them and it applies to everyone - I'd double check that though.0 -
if the rest of her mates are on o2 she can get an unlimited tarrif which means u get umlimited txts to other o2 numbers http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/paygo/paygotariffs
i would strongly recommend NOT going pay monthly.0 -

so is the unlimited texts on O2 (which is what she is on at the moment) you top up £15 a month *which she does WAY too easily* and you get unlimited texts to ANY network?

I find they tend to keep their texting down if you tell them if they go over on their limit they will have to pay for it out of their pocket money...... LOL

I dread to think what it's going to be like here in 15 years time............a whole generation of sub-literate, sexually overactive morons incapable of speaking and only capable of grunting in "r u ok, c u l8r" type monologue.
Unfortunately I think I know what it'll be like. I met an american girl on holiday who admits the she talks in "text speak" with her friends, ie, she will say "O.M.G" "lol" and "thats Gee Are Eight" (GR8)
I told her she was sad. But then you know what they say, what happens in america is only 2 years away from happening here.
getting back to the point, I would tell your daughter that if she has run out of credit after she has used her weekly/monthly allowance then tough. Can she not wait till the next day at school to share the latest gossip with her friends? Or am I just getting old
You don't say how old your daughter is, can't she pay for her own top ups? Mum & dad bought me a PAYG moblie as a b'day pressie once cos I had requested one once, but I paid for the calls.Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
on average how many texts does your daughter use a month, does she have the o2 sim card which gives 300 texts per month for £10 and 500 for £15,
my son was on that but still wasn't enough:eek: so i got him the o2 online 20 simplicity its a contract but only month by month not yearly etc.. it gives him 1000 text, 400 x-net minutes, and unlimited o2 calls for £20 per month0 -
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/paymonthly
18mth contract Orange: 100mins, unlimited texts £15.
Or SIM only: (no lenghty contract, cancel anytime with 30days notice)
200mins, unlimited text £20.
Calls + Texts are to all networks.
Otherwise, best for PAYG i'd say is:
O2 or Orange.
They have options whereby if you top-up by £10 you get 300sms, £20 is 600sms, and £30/mth is 1000sms (the sms are 'bonus' so you stil have the £'s for calls etc.)
The thing you have to consider is that although probably cheaper, Paymonthly has associated problems (not as easy to manage your money etc. can have big bills)
with the PAYG, scope the tariffs, set a monthly £'s in mind. and speak to your daughter saying, you can have this much, you will get X number of mins, Y number of texts.
Then, teach her the lesson of money/text management. If she has no credit left, she cant text until the following month!!
best of luck

I found the best way to get my daughter to stop squandering money on texts and other things was to give her a monthly allowance and tell her that once she'd spent that, she wouldn't get any more until the next month. She made a hash of it for a few months, but then started budgeting a little better and asking for budgeting advice. Why not use this as an opportunity to gently get her into the world of managing her own money. She could do some of the leg work in looking for bargains such as other posters have proferred.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Hi
No thats a Pay Monthly Deal (Contract). This could prove costly if she starts calling people and running up a huge phone bill. The advantage with Pay As You Go is that once the credit runs out she cannot make calls or texts.
For unlimited texts to ANY network on O2 Pay & Go you will need the following (Click on Text Anytime):
http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/pay_and_go
But its £30 a month
