Troublesome texting daughter, any advice? :D
As most parents i know, the kids always want money for there phone! now i'm not a technology person myself so i have no clue! Can i have any advice?
My daughter uses most of her money on texting and hardly calls anyone. She is on O2 which she would like to stick too because of the great signal but any other advice appriciated.. Downside is she texts LOADS.. so the more texts for the cheaper.. the better
any ideas? all these threads on here make hardly any sense to me
so i'm useless!
thanks :j

is she on contract or PAYG?You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
at the moment she is on PAYG but it may be easier to go on contract without spending a fortune?

Orange (and maybe others) have an "unlimited texts" contract? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

Always be cautious with "Kids With Contracts" as from my experience and the lady in this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=843719, the reason they hardly make calls on Pay as you go is that it uses quite a bit of there credit if it is to another mobile network so they prefer texting. So if they have the freedom to txt and call without the worry of there credit running out 9 times out of 10 they will and you dont know how much the bill will be until Mr Postman puts it through your letter box and awakes the whole house with the thud it makes as it hits the floor. You can always get bolt ons with o2 which I think are an Extra 200 text messages for £10.0

On a serious note, I think you'll find the reason many teens don't make calls is because exposure to texting and Facebook have alienated them from the art of actually talking to people.
I dread to think what it's going to be like here in 15 years time............a whole generation of sub-literate, sexually overactive morons incapable of speaking and only capable of grunting in "r u ok, c u l8r" type monologue. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

O2 has unlimited texts on the £15 a month contract:
http://shop.o2.co.uk/home
However there is the issue of risking running up a huge bill if she makes phone calls (you can't place limits in any useful fashion - it'll just keep working and you'll get a big bill in arrears).
If you want to stay on PAYG there's a 400 message bolt on for £11.990 -

Quite true, I wish someone could tell that to my Fiance !! She seems to txt me and have a conversation, it can take half an hour to discuss something that could have been done in 2 mins with a call !! And dont get me started on Facebook !!!0 -
