Actually a clone of this recorder but the components are the same0

The DVD Recorder on your link has a smaller hard drive and dosn't have editing functions,so not quite a clone.0

Definitely a clone.
It's simple enough to slot in a bigger hard drive.
It does not mention any editing functions in the Aldi description either0 -

Now,I know people have had problems with ebuyer but I havent, so I cant complain (the laptop I am currently using is from them). This one records both dvd+r and dvd-r which the aldi apparently doesnt. You will have to pay for delivery though (~ £5.00 I think).
PS payed for next day delivery (~£10.00) and it came the very next day - hooray
I bought this one tonight too, but through currys for 219.99 inc delivery by using a £20 0ff code.
I think this is the better machine as it does dvd+r/rw and dvd-r/rw and easy to make multi region. The only down side is I dont think it playsthe new DIVx but thats not a huge problem..0 -

The LiteOn LVW5045 from Currys is not the same model. That one is a Umax/Yamada and does not play DIVX movies. Maplin are selling a clone of that for £199.99

Not really, its only an 80GB machine and if you look in the FAQ's it says:
Q:Does this have the ability to play divx? (phil burnett: 12/08/2005 )A:no sorry.0 -
talkshop: I think you should go and find a dictionary and look up the word "clone"Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Will it work for this particular model though - its not on your list? And if we try it, and it doesn't work - what's the worst that could happen? Could we completely muck up the machine, or will it just ignore the button presses, etc?
Don't want to muck up his nice new toy0 -

Yes, the HDD is only80GB, but as said before these can be easily replaced for a larger one, and as I did say above, the Currys/Maplin model DOES NOT play DIVX. Perhaps I need to use bigger typing next time0 -

The machine will just ignore if you have pressed wrong keys.
I write all the instructions on a piece of paper in large writing and in list form, which makes it less likely to do it wrong. Much easier to read than a printout from a web page in small type.0
