  • How does this recipe differ from what you normally do bebee?

    Have a couple of questions-
    1. What do you do with your bread, if its not successful enough for sandwiches. My white that I made Sunday night (I left too long in the fridge I think) is great for toast. Apart from breadcrumbs what else could I do?

    2. Has anyone got a foolproof, tried and tested recipe for bread thats proved once?

how about bread and butter pudding or summmers pudding, both have liquids that will soften it up plus you need dry bread for it anyway.

    Hi Northwest.
The recipe i use doesn't have any Butter or oil in it. and i use dried yeast the portion packets from Mr S or Mr T.
This time i'm using Fresh Yeast as bought a Huge block from a Deli and fridged some and frozen the rest. found it to be a lot cheaper and up to know a lot better as well.
I use left over bread for breadcrumbs ( have you seen the price of them in the shops) My family don't lioke bread pudding unfortunately. just a thought why not freeze it to make toasties with.

no, not at all. If you ever need to re-knead then add a bit of water and a bit more flour just to keep the yeast fed and it will rise again

Bread pudding - OMG I love this. Soak your stale/manky bread in water until it's soft. Squeeze it out into a bowl, add 1 egg for every 8oz or so and enough milk to make it sticky but not sopping wet, it should drop off your spoon - mix in dried fruit to taste, a teaspoon or two of mixed spice depending on the amount you are making and stir in a couple of ozs of sugar for every 8 oz of bread.....Pour into a greased baking dish and sprinkle the top with demerara sugar packets pinched from cafes for precisely this reason.... bake in a medium oven 170ish for an hour or so - a knife should come out clean. Leave it to cool and feast!!!!
