This is the recipe I used. Now having another go using half wholemeal and half white on the flourLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
I did an online shop with Tesco last night and Hovis wholemeal strong flour came up at 25p a bag. No special offer tags-I wondered if it was a mistake.
I ordered four-if it's a silly price when it gets here I'll send it back...import this0 -
I think I'm going to have to pop into Tesco some time this week and pick up a few bags. At that price it makes homemade bread ridiculously cheap:j:T:rotfl:0

I just made some rolls today to have with tea they were lovely. I used the hairy bikers (bakers) recipe, nice and easy to do and taste really yummie.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090

Some sites suggest brushing with milk, some suggest adding powdered milk when making dough, some suggest adding some fat/butter. Cant seem to find a definitive answer. Maybe Thriftlady or PP can come in with an answer?
Hi Zippychick,
Am using the Artisan bread in 5 minutes recipe. I am thinking maybe the temp of the oven could be too high???? Am going to keep trying as the bread is a hit at home, just does not last long enough lol:j Started my weightloss journey, its neverending!! :j

Has anyone ever made any bread using any recipes from the Richard Bertinet books? It gets really good reviews on Amazon and was thinking of picking up a second hand copy on ebay.
I watched a feature, on one of the food channels, of him demonstrating his method and it looked really yummy in the end (Rachel Allen seemed to like it!)0 -
Confirmed-my Hovis flour has been delivered (by Tesco) and it WAS 25p.import this0

my Elizabeth David book came today and what a storming read this is going to be. Written in 1977 and full of the whys and wherefores and recipes, 591 pages. I got a hardback, actually printed in 1977 for only £7 more than the cost of a paperback and it is in stupendous condition. The paper cover has been protected with plastic and I don`t think the book has been used. Interestingly a few bits of the index at the back are upside down so perhaps I have got myself a bit of a rarety. I am going to enjoy curling up with this one0
