new cat is pregnant

:eek: as some of you know we have taken in a cat that was left behind by some neighbours of ours (she is doing great by the way) well took her to the vets this morning for a check up and to be neutered and the vet said she is pregnant:eek:

how long are cats pregnant and do i need to do anything in particular ie food wise or anything, the vet said they just basically get on with it themselves but just to be there incase she needs help (what does he mean)

mirror - jsut make sure she has somewhere quiet/secluded/ comfy she can go to when she does have the kittens - althouh my cat chose my bed as her saftey place - which was all well and good but i was 12 and on top bunk of bunk beds! Make sure its warm and comfortabel for her - i dont htink you need to change her milk to after the babies get here and she is lactating.

Argh! cant think who it was - someone else recently took in a pregnant stray and she recently had her kittens so im guessing she can offer you more advice when she finds this thread - dammit i will find her name for you to message her if shes not here soon

Edited to say : LOOBY-LOO was the lady who took in the pregnant stray cat. Im sure she wouldnt mind you asking her questions.

Cat are pregnant for about 61 days if that helps.

by a little help the vet means when they're giving birth they sometimes get tired n need a little help -my dh had to help clean up our last kitten mum was too tired-he cut the cord etc. we got a book its all pretty straight forward really
as she gets bigger make sure you have a warm nest for her-cardboard box/old sheets etc
ours gave birth on hubbys knee-she does stalk him ththe rest pretty much takes care of itself-feed her usual stuff-maybe a bit of extra protein etc-oooh kitties x im v v v v jealous i love love love kitties xxxx

yes she has settled in well thankyou, still really nervous of strangers and men so dont think they treated her very well, but she will get used to us all, the cats are getting on ok mostly ignoring each other but hey at least they arent hissing or fighting, have put her a box in the back room where she spends most of her time so hopefully she will use this, im hoping its her first littler cause they are meant to be small litters apparentley, ( i only wanted one cat now im gonna have a house full. lol. x)

quick update for you all, the cats are getting along great thank goodness, always together now, and the kittens are due late next week or erly week after give or take a couple of days so keep your fingers crossed for me. x
