Stolen Phone....what should I do
Step daughter's phone has disappeared. it is only a PAYG, but want to get it blocked. T-Mobile have told us that the phone is powered up, but as the phone hasn't been used in the past 10 days they can't get it blocked. What should we be doing?
Note: There was no credit on the phone

As it's a PAYG there is really no more harm to be done, aslong as you have informed the network and they have a note of that then it's fine.
Unfortunatley unless you have insurance, you will need a new phone, your payg network should be able to give you the same number when they get the stolen phone blocked.0 -

When i worked for Vodafone, we could block a phone even if it hadn't been used in the last 5 years.
Give them another ring , see if someone else advises the same thing.
Only the network can block the phone, so if they can't then thats it.0 -
There is a possiblity the phone is lost and not been found For the phone to be blocked it has to be turned off and then relogged to a network If they are saying it has not been turned off then they cannot block it as the phone needs to be re-logged onto a network before the block can take place. You can't really blame the network for that

Have you tried phoning it and seeing what happens?0

Technically they can block it regardless of whether it's on or off. They only have to log the IMEI number and circulate it round the cells. Problem is probably with it being PAYG - if it's never been registered (ie linking phone number and person's name/address), they can't just take anyone's word that it's been lost or stolen (imagine the mayhem, getting ex's, workmates, random phones barred..).0

If the phone is turned on what sim is being used? have you tried sending a text to the number from a phone/network that support delivery reciepts? also could it be hiding somewhere under a bed or in a bag? When my daughter lost her mobile it was 02 and they couldnt tell me anything not even last call or if phone was on or off and we said it had been missing for 10 days, what the network said was they would check the imei number used when making calls to numbers i quoted and they could trace it from there and send a block down, also they offered to port the number onto another sim for her and that the block could be lifted if the phone was ever found by us.
But another point i found 02 to be a nightmare to talk to the wouldnt talk to me and wanted to talk to my 10 year old daughter i had to argue the point to them it was my phone and that i had leant her it to go to the shops even then they wernt happy, saying its your daughters phone, took ages of polite arguing to persuade them. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Cant believe they cant block phone , think its just too much bother to them as its pay as you go and probably not used very much so they dont get much revenue. My 15 year old son was attacked last thursday and had his mobile snatched. O2 blocked the phone straight away which was a relief as its a contract phone. The chap at O2 was very helpful sent out a new sim straight away and gave us an upgrade phone early as I had not taken out insurance.0
