I presume that was an accidental thanks ?
anyhow , i agree as much as if you want it go for it , if you dont , dont BUT if it comes through my door , sending it back with a small note asking them to kindly leave their mailshooting for others , using their own pre paid envelope makes me feel better , and i enjoy doing it , sod them , they take the time and effort to send me dubious product offers , then i will take the time to reply with my efforts.Keep on keeping on... :beer:0 -
super_mario wrote:now im not sticking up for them here! but one issue which doesnt get picked up is..yes they are obscenely high aprs, but it is on very small balances! if they were to issue credit cards with £200 limits and normal aprs, then they would only be making a few pence a month, im probably going to get tarred and feathered for this, but i just think that with these high aprs they need to be seen in context of the balance
lol
To put it into context:
Vanquis lower the APR as your credit limit increases upto the limit of £2,000 at that point the APR is actually lower than a Barclaycard (Initial).

I don't want to provoke but I keep reading you putting dubious about Vanquis. I'm curious as to what you think is dubiousProudly Banking & Saving With:

I think Vanquis 'get off' on hearing cries of excitement of being accepted - I found it odd when they said 'how does that sound' :rotfl:Proudly Banking & Saving With:

Put Vanquis side by side with Barclaycard (Initial):
Both cards require no deposit.
Vanquis has (in real terms) 8% higher APR than Barclaycard. Vanquis APR lowers to less than Barclaycard when credit limit reaches £2,000
Vanquis credit card is Chip and PIN - Barclaycard (Initial) doesn't.
Vanquis offer cheques to use on your account - Barclaycard doesn't.
I have a Barclaycard, I ain't knocking them as they (Barclaycard) offer special promotions on BT even for new customers with APR of 6.9% on BT (no fee).
The Vanquis credit card has it's place and I believe their are thousands upon thousands that are thankful to Vanquis for accepting them when others (credit card and or debit card companies) refuses them.
Hope this helpsProudly Banking & Saving With:

The merits of either card dont interest me in the slightest , and im greatfull for that , fingers crossed , they never will.
I have two points ;
1) If you have run better value credit cards badly , then obtaining credit at enormous cost ,because of previous mistakes is asking for trouble.
2) Yes , it has its place , just that its place isnt on my door matKeep on keeping on... :beer:0 -

You have stated that these cards don't interest YOU. That's ok but it seems like you have been lucky enough not to run into enough trouble with your credit to need one. And I too hope you never need one.
However, there are a lot of people out there that are not as fortunate as you, including me. Some people get into trouble with their credit and it is no fault of their own (lost job, illness etc...) and these cards, either Vanquis, Aquacard, Barclaycard or Capital One are a blessing for them as it allows them to purchase items (online etc...) that they wouldn't otherwise be able to and re-build their credit at the same time.
Just my opinion."I Assume I Need No Introduction"0 -

Their will always be many, many people who have a low credit score either by being new to credit and or due to past credit history.
Vanquis take risks on this low credit score and offer a credit card that is higher than average in APR but also teach you how to be good by increasing your credit limit over time and lower your APR to reflect this.
It's a niche corner of the market that Vanquis is willing to explore.Proudly Banking & Saving With:
