You have stated that these cards don't interest YOU. That's ok but it seems like you have been lucky enough not to run into enough trouble with your credit to need one. And I too hope you never need one.

However, there are a lot of people out there that are not as fortunate as you, including me. Some people get into trouble with their credit and it is no fault of their own (lost job, illness etc...) and these cards, either Vanquis, Aquacard, Barclaycard or Capital One are a blessing for them as it allows them to purchase items (online etc...) that they wouldn't otherwise be able to and re-build their credit at the same time.

    Just my opinion.

    ;)

Dont misundertstand me niteflyer , ive had credit trouble in the past , and owe plenty of money now .
The reason i say i am not interested in the card is because i`m not , nothing elitist , my only point on the thread really was that i think its ok to send it back to them in their pre paid envelope

Totally agree with you, I did the same thing to First Direct.

But you have to agree that these cards can be a Godsend to some people?

They can be obviosuly , but the whole mailshot info and the way they word it makes me dislike them , a lot , cant help it

the line that nonchalantly advises a annual fee of £19 annoys me , the way they write the `benefits` makes me think of the way i speak to my 9 year old.

I have this problem with alot of companies. They make a habit of pretty marketing. I look through and past that and look at the backbone of it all You learn to rise above it after awhile!

Regarding the £19 annual fee. I was going to ask what the purpose of that when they phoned but forgot

At least Vanquis are fully open at the annual fee, hey! they even build their leaflet around it :rotfl:

    Hi Fedz,

I think they r just sending them out to replace existing non chip cards, I've had the chip-less initial for 4 months and then the chip one turned up the other day unexpectedly!

    Pleased though!! :D

Hope their quick as I'm not too keen on using non-chip and pin cards.

Went to JJB Sports today - I have a store card - and went to pay for 2 t-shirts that we're half price and was asked if I wanted the JJB Mastercard. I thought OK but I doubt they'd give me one, I struggled to get the store card

Shock and horror it was accepted and it's chip 'n PIN :)

Considering whether to get rid of the Vanquis in favour of the JJB Mastercard and while I'm tidying-up close the store cards.

Thanks to Vanquis for giving me my first credit card :)

Why were you forced to use them for your first credit card if you dont mind me asking ?

    No problem HelenR

I'm a discharged bankrupt from 6 years ago

Lesson learned. Don't have too many credit/store cards open - have a choice 2 max so you don't get lost and have several CC bills every month :)
