My Ds likes the tins of creamed mushrooms (chesswood i think they are used for vol au vonts) stirred in his pasta and you could add chicken.
Tuna and sweet corn are nice as wellApril grocery challenge week1 £39.91/£40:T week 2 £41.17 /£40 week 3 £41.96/£40 week 4 /£400 -
Worth checking whether your DD is allergic to all tomatos or just raw tomatos. DSIL is allergic to raw but not cooked
There are some nice red pepper pestos as well...0 -
My kids (and me!) really love pasta in natural yoghurt and cheese
Cook the pasta, drain, add some grated cheese to the hot pasta and let it start melting Add some natural yoghurt and stir though - then eat!
you can add any veg I suppose - we normally just have sweetcorn stirred through0 -
Pesto is great - and there are loads of different varieties now. I did try once to make my own but was a disaster!
I've just had pasta, drained, then add (whilst in the pan) butter, ev olive oil, salt pepper and parmesan. Delicious and simple (though admittedly was filled pasta that was reduced).
Someone said roasted veg - another of my favourites - onion, garlic, aubergine, courgette, pepper (I also add cherry toms but you would leave them out) - roast in olive oil, when done stir pasta in with veg to pick up all the lovely juices.
If your daughter will eat spinach then another good one is spinach, garlic roule (melt over a low heat with the spinach until spinach is wilted and roule melted), a splash of soy sauce, splash of milk and a little grated nutmeg. I know it sounds odd but is delicious! Good with spaghetti/linguine/tagliatelle.
Finally you could make a creamy sauce with stock or white wine (alcohol boiled off) then add cream (I use double cream) - use with any meat/veg combination.0 -
I chop up a couple of boiled eggs, a tin of tuna some cucumber/sweetcorn/peppers etc and add to hot pasta. Then mix it with a couple of tablespoons of mayonnaise. (That's the lazy bit) Can be eaten straight away whilst still warm or cold as a salad.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Soft cheese (such as Philadelphia) mixed with mashed up/pureed brocolli. Went down a storm in my house.0

Very quick and easy meal:
Fry up an onion, pepper, mushrooms (or any other veg!). Add some cooked meat (normally chicken carcass scraps, gammon, or bacon). Tip in a tin of Campbells condensed soup in any creamy flavour. Add a bit of water if it looks thick. Add cooked pasta and stir over the hot ring for a couple of minutes before serving. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Thanks for all these, fantastic ideas!
Just making a note of them all then got lots of stuff to add to my tesco order.. dunno what I am going to do with the stash of tinned tomatoes in my cupboard though!!0 -
I just made one this evening, before seeing this post. It was a simple bechamel (white) sauce to which I added finely chopped spinach (you can use frozen for speed) and the contents of a tin of salmon, flaked. Mix with pasta, put some grated cheese on top, bake in oven until golden."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0

An easy pasta sauce I make is with cream, ham and mushrooms.
Fry onion and garlic.
Add chopped ham and mushrooms and a bit of basil (if you want)
Add cream and reduce to desired consistency
When served add shredded cheese.0
