I think my almost 1 yr old daughter is allergic to tomatoes so need to rethink my menu plan.
Usually have something pasta and tomato based once a week, bolognese, pasta bake, etc so need some alternatives for these!!
Was thinking something with pesto for a pasta sauce, any ideas? Or any pasta sauces that dont involve tomatoes?

Try tuna and mayo. Very cheap and yummy. Also pesto - green is nice- if she's not too fussy. Also cook pasta, drain, fry onion, add pasta, add macapone cheese and bacon bits, cook and stir- really yummy and cheap. A tub of macapone will do 2 meals as will the bacon bits.Hope that helpsx2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£3100

You could use olive oil or butter with some Basil pesto but watch out the taste is not too strong for her. I love those fish in sauce portions through spaghetti. Lazy I know but thats me. you could also go the chicken and mushroom sauce road. I love that through my pasta.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

I've come across plenty of people over the years who find tomatoes disagree with them one way or another. How about a mushroom sauce? Spinach and cheese sauce? Also, as well as the usual pesto you may be able to make one with red peppers. Roasted vegetables generally go well with pasta. I particularly like chopped and roasted butternut squash added to pasta with a little creme fraiche.Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...0

Actually, there's a nifty little book published by, I think, Australian Good Housekeeping or Women's Weekly or something (I bought it from Waterstones for a few pounds) which has literally hundreds of quick pasta recipes. I'll check when I get home.Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...0

Sarah I have a mean allergy to red pepper and thats hard enough to avoid but tomatos woah!!
I like cheese sauce and the creme fraiche ones, my youngest daughter used to love nothing more than pasta cooked and tossed in olive oil with a bit of salt and pepper or sometimes mushrooms (I think she had this for lunch at least 3 times a week for a couple of years:o but thats toddlers for you:p)
I'm sure you will have it all sorted soon good luck0 -
I'm allergic to tomatoes (I get the nasty rash) - and vegetarian!
I don't eat pasta anymore either, but before I gave up carbs I'd make veggie carbonara - egg yolk, cream, parmesan and veggie 'bacon', pasta with pesto, pasta with olive oil and spicy prawns, tuna pasta salad, onion mushroom and cream pasta............ even just pasta with olive oil, lemon juice and black pepper - yummy!
Good luck with your daughter. I don't think you'll find it too hard to adapt things to avoid tomatoes.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Hi
Even if she is not allergic or intolerant, there is no harm in having a bit more variety in your meals
Three versions of carbonara
maria's cheap and authentic one
White sauce heavily flavoured with freshly ground nutmeg
grilled streaky bacon bits
with whole blackpeppercorns grilled at the end, then ground.
Mix in the nutmeg sauce and pile the bacon and pepper on top.
The quicky
Eggs - one at least person and the fresher the better, whisked
Grilled bacon bits - with pepper or herbs if you wish
drain the pasta, put it back on the heat to warm up very quickly. take it off again, add the eggs and whisk in. Let the heat in the pasta cook them. Serve when creamy, with the bacon on top.
The posh job
As for the quickie but use cream, creme fraiche or a cheese like mascarpone instead of the eggs and tender shreds of ham.
you can add mushrooms or greens if you want.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
