Tesco wrong prices thread part 4 - please post your finds here

I chuckle each time I drive into Tescos, when I look at their sign "We check 10,000 prices each week, so you don't have to". Well, they ought to start checking their labels too!0

I've just got back from the New Oscott Tesco, and for the first time ever they were quite stroppy about refunding. I found some Organic Wensleydale cheese, shelf £6.99/kg and pack £7.09/kg. Got that back no problem. But also got the smoked salmon (shelf £3.65 - pack £4.09) and the woman on the CS desk was adamant that it was a different product! She tried to claim that it was a shelf stacking error rather than a pricing one, and I could not convince her that it made no difference. (She was rather old, do Tesco employ people past retirement age?)
The "Customer Service Supervisor" was called and told me exactly the same thing. At this point I reminded them of the law of misleading price indications and their own policy. (If we charge more than the price on the shelf ....)
Eventually a proper manager was summoned. I told him that I was appalled that staff were ignorant of the policy, or pretending to be. He clearly DID know the policy, and I was refunded for the 2 packs of salmon immediately.
Moral: Don't be fobbed off! Insist on seeing a manager if the staff are reluctant to honour the policy. (And let them be the ones to lose their cool!)0 -

The CS that I had when I got this product tried to tell me it was a shelf stacking error but she still gave me my refund. Seems funny that it's a shelf stacker error when so many branches have the same error.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -

That's 4 places in my surrounding area with same mistake so have a look. Never bought any, was just being nosy. Also noticed that the salmon flakes and crab sticks were also priced wrongly.
I picked up some of this salmon in Tesco this afternoon, and was quite thrilled at the prospect of getting it for nothing, but when i went to customer services (and traipsed back to the fish aisle with her) she said it was for a different product and read out the barcodes, which were different to the packs. Also, the packs said 'oak smoked' and the shelf label just said smoked. I stood my ground and said how terrible Tesco were in labelling the shelf with one price and charging another, but she just asked if i wanted her to go and look if there were any of the cheaper ones in stock. I said no and had my money back (which is rather unfortunate as I had gone to T's especially to buy smoked salmon for tomorrow). It's obviously something that's been authorised by Tesco or else why is the same mistake in Scotland and Swansea?0 -

This seems to be cropping up quite a lot as an excuse which is remarkable as it is tantamount to an admission of misleading point of sale, for example it matters not what product is placed behind the point of sale, if it is similar ie a different type of salmon but merely faced incorrectly it matters not a jot, the point of sale is misleading you into the belief you are paying one price when in fact you pay a higher price which is an offence under current trading legislation, it is THEIR responsibility to put the correct product in the correct place with the correct weight and correct corresponding price, the burdon is not on you the customer to examine each and every product you purchase to ensure you are not being ripped off.
Tesco have a "four point check" system which is supposed to ensure that products are not mis faced or mis priced had this been followed then this situation would not arise, as it has they MUST observe their own policy and take steps to ensure that the error is put right IMMEDIATELY for fear of falling foul of the law. You were conned Myrna simply call their head office explain the situation and even threaten them with Trading Standards if you wish in order to get your refund.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
This issue with the smoked salmon seems to be nationwide; two local Tesco's had mispriced salmon, 2 or 3 different types. I left them for another MSE'r, I can't stand the stuff. They were still there in Fulbourn and Central Cambridge stores yesterday.
Both stores take down the labels when you hit them for a refund, so it's likely to be a one-time thing. CS in both stores are very nice people BTW.

Your face must fit, lol. My last refund&keep at Tesco Nwmkt Rd was (eventually after much debate/accusation about why I picked up a more expensive pack than the others on offer!) done by a young lady whose face would have curdled all the milk in the cows on Midsummer Common :-) Won't stop me visiting the CS desk again though
BTW I detest smoked salmon too! Couldn't see any other misprices there today, bit of a rushed visit though. A colleague did get plimsols refunded, 2 pairs scanned at £1.75/pair - from a shelf that said £1.25/pair0 -
I currently have an ongoing complaint open with Tesco customer services at their head office.
It involves the "explanation" I was given by a CS member with regards to the £7.98 Gammon Joint Label.
I was told that the £8.48 Gammons were put in the wrong place, and that the real price was what was on the item.
I took a refund (not free item), but when I got home, I looked online to see that they don't stock a £7.98 Gammon at all.
To make things worse, the same label text is still in use now, but with the £8.48 price tag.0
