  • We arrived at the Greenwich Picturehouse this morning at 10 o'clock to see W , only to be told the film was not shown there. We wasted our time getting there and a £3.90 parking fee!

I thought the Screenbookings screening of W this morning was at VUE cinemas ?
Picturehouse isn't one, is it ?

"Thank you for booking to see the screening of W at
    GREENWICH PICTUREHOUSE GREENWICH
    180 Greenwich High Road

    London SE10 8NN

on 02-11-2008 Sunday at 10am for 10.30am start

Please note this film is Certificate 15

Please find below your booking reference for 2 tickets

    Your booking number is XXXXXX

Please print off this page and bring it to the cinema on the
    day of the screening".

There were quite a few other people waiting at the door only to be told the venue wasn't taking place. I complained to screenbookings.com telling them this is not a very nice way to treat people. I don't think it'll make any difference though.
  • I too attended the Greenwich Picturehouse this morning and put in this complaint to screenbookings which explains what happened:

    2 November 2008

    To Whom It May Concern;

I'm writing with regard to the preview screening of W which was due to be held today at Greenwich Picturehouse in Greenwich.

Upon arrival at the cinema I found that it hadn't opened and a crowd of people standing outside. I find that these are fellow film fans waiting for the cinema to open and they somewhat perplexed, as am I, that it hadn't given the time I arrived there was 10:25 and the screening was due to start at 10:30.

A few minutes pass in confusion and a sign is posted on the cinema wall saying 'there is no screening of W here and we have no knowledge of a Times/Sunday Times promotion' or words to that effect.

After composing myself from my annoyance and frustration at this I decide to go to the Greenwich Odeon, and hop on a bus, in case there has been a mix up. Even though the ticket clearly states 'Greenwich Picturehouse'.

Upon arrival at the Odeon there are blank stares from the staff at the Odeon who claim no knowledge of any screening. At this point I decide to call it a day as it's now 10:45, and I would have missed the first 15 minutes of the screening, where ever it was! The only other cinema in Greenwich was the one at the o2 but then it would have been a fruitless journey considering by the time I'd arrived I would have missed almost half the movie.

I must express my extreme annoyance, anger and disappointment at this shambles and demand to know why this has been allowed to happen?

I have not only wasted my time but my money travelling to and from the cinema by bus, as I'm not within walking distance, but also to the Odeon in a fruitless attempt to save the day and see the film.

In future, if I decide to use the service again at all, I expect the organisation to be a lot better than it was today!

    Yours sincerely,

    Sean Brady

Needless to say I didn't give up easily and I hear some people even went to (were directed there?) the o2 to see if it was being held there.

I would be interested to hear if it was!

Moral of this story? ALWAYS CHECK AT THE CINEMA BEFORE YOU LEAVE THAT THE SCREENING IS STILL HAPPENING! Not that you should have to but I'm going to in future!
    Life's what you make it....

"I've got one, two, three, [STRIKE]four[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]five[/STRIKE]... senses working overtime..", XTC.

Life beyond voluntary work scares me, but what else is there?

Don't worry - that's just copied and pasted from the last times they've sent that message...

I saw Easy Virtue this morning. It was the fullest I've ever seen a screening - a pair of latecomers bagged the only remaining seats!

Anyway - I probably wouldn't have chosen to see this at the cinema and would have got it out on DVD but I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fun and a bit different, and reminded me of I Capture the Castle which I also really liked.

My husband couldn't understand why Jessica Biel would go for Ben Barnes. I'll tell you why - he is bl**dy gorgeous! Now I have had my hot flush I shall give my scores.

    Easy Virtue 8/10.

    Ben Barnes' face 10/10.
  • Why are loads of the free screenings on a Sunday now it's really annoying as i have to work Sunday and keep missing them, why can't we go back to having them on a Tuesday evening it was much easier.

I am disgusted by the lack of organization the sceenbooking people have shown. I LIVE IN CAMDEN AND WENT ALL THE WAY TO GREENWICH PICTUREHOUSE THIS MORNING!
    If you get my meaning!
The film was due to start at 10:30 and since London Transport is what it is I had to leave MY HOUSE IN CAMDEN at 9:00 AM ON A SUNDAY.
I 'm dying to hear what they have to say. Tomorrow I'll be on the blower day and I solemnly promise to annoy them soooooooooooooooo much they will repent! Just a bit of their own medicine I guess!
    MORONS!

Saw Easy Virtue this morning at De Lux, Leicester.
I would estimate only 30% full - although it was a huge screen/room if you get what I mean.
V annoying, as they have sent me 2 emails telling me more tickets were available, and giving me a code - but the SFF site said all gone. Wanted to take other son with me.
I wish they would get their act together.
I mean ok, some people will have decided at the last minute not to crawl out of bed on a grotty Sunday morning, but not that many:mad:

I enjoyed the film. But not to DS taste - not enough slap-stick for him, but he did like the "dog" story-line;)
Solid 7 out of 10 from me.

p.s I really like Colin Firth, but I wish he would try a more demanding/meatier role. He always seems to play 'nice' amiable, wouldn't hurt a fly englishman.
Love to see him as a psychopath, robber, drug addict, scheming politician ......just something that would take me by surprise for a change.
Good example is Tom Wilkinson - obviously doing fantastic in the US - caught him briefly in Recount on tele last night, and in Michael Clayton of course, both miles away from his, never to be forgotten Full Monty appearance ;)

Finally talked to someone from The Times and they were very sorry and said it was a mistake from the company that distributes the film???
If you were there please call them up and complain, do not let this happen again.
