Taken - a mediocre action film raised to good, strong heights by Liam Neeson's acting. Notthing like the high-concept, low-brow fun of the director's first film, but well worth a look, if you don't expect too much. 7.5 out of your usual ten.
No thanks to Vue Leicester for making us stand like lemons outside for at least half an hour (when the film was only 90 minutes!!), while all of 4 people enjoyed whatever it was they had paid for. And no thanks for the projectionist who didn't centre the film properly, so we had the edge-of-frame visible on screen.
But as far as the above goes, I don't think there is any one cinema chain that is better than the other when it comes to screenings. The only time I saw a freeview at a Showcase they let Joe Public pay to come in as well, and only had half the speakers plugged in. Dreamgirls in mono is not brilliant, let me tell you!0 -

Indeed Cardiff Odeon was packed last night, so packed we didn't get in!
Gutted actually, I was really looking forward to Tropic Thunder, what's worse is that the only screening of Taken in Cardiff was the same night, so no chance of seeing that one either (bet that screening wasn't full!)
Pretty much a wasted journey, only saving grace was eating at Spice Route to stave off disappointment
Anybody ever had any kind of responce from seefilmfirst in this situation? Any possibility they'll send me a 'special code' for something else?
I arrived at 5 to 6 for the film and there was a massive queue even then, oh well i hope you enjoyed Spice Route. I doubt you'll get much joy out of See film first as i expect they do the screenings on a first come first served basis they always oversubscribe for screenings to make sure that the cinema isn't left half empty.0 -
Saw "Taken" at Cineworld Birmingham last night. 7 out of 10 for a good popcorn movie. Lot's of action and guns and above all else Liam Neeson utilising the "chop to the neck" manoeuvre that is so criminally under-used by most movie badasses!!
Only minus point was the Yul Brynner lookalike security guy trawling the auditorium and harassing anyone who looked remotely like they could be under 15, thus ensuring the film started 20 minutes late. Damn you Yul Brynner!!!! Damn you to hell!!!!0 -
Saw Taken @ Cineworld Sheffield last night, full house again! I agree that Cineworld seem to be the best for these screenings, plus all their screens are of a decent size - unlike Sheffield Odeon where some of the screens are a bit like watching a film on a tv (and not a particularly good one at that!).
Anyway the film - Was a great action flick, leave your brain at the door and just enjoy for what it is! Soooo many plot holes, but if you want to see what would happen if Jason Bourne's daughter got kidnapped then this is the film to see!!!!
I'd give it a 9/10 at the time of watching - 8/10 after considering the gaping chasms within the plot!0 -
How do I cancel a ticket for Seefilmfirst? Not feeling so well and don't fancy sitting in cinema tonight...Sometimes you get what you deserve... :cool2:0

Taken from SFF Help section:
If by change you cannot make it to a screening, we can give your ticket to someone else. Please let us know by e-mail on icantgo@seefilmfirst.com0 -

Back from watching Taken in Finchley. Well organised by the cinema, a refreshing change... only 60% full though.
What a film, absolutely loved it, the best SFF I've watched this year, second overall only to Dark Knight.
Neeson was quality, no holds barred, take no prisoners type of guy. And after the car chase scene, I now want to buy an Audi S8!!
9/100
