Saw Tropic Thunder tonight and was pretty packed. It's been the best comedy freebie I've seen so far. Got lots of giggles and laughs.
I loved how alot of the actors either did a great comedy parady of more serious issues/their usual characters and how certain actors did class acts out of their normal genre. I didn't feel it dragged too much, there were a couple of gags that weren't too my taste (but hey you can't please them all).
I really enjoyed it and it's a film I would have been interested in seeing at the cinema. Some nice special effects too/big explosions.
    8 outta 10!
  • Saw 'Taken' at Cineworld Sheffield and really enjoyed it. Plot, acting and cinematography wise it was pretty average, however if I rated it on pure enjoyment and mindless (yet kick-!!!) violence I'd say it was awesome.

Also to those having Screening problems at Vue/Odeon Cinemas, I'm not surprised. Over the years I've had a fair few screenings at these cinemas whereby the staff didn't know a screening was supposed to take place, yet I've never had a problem at a Cineworld Cinema.
  • i saw tropic thunder tonight and i have to say that i left the cinema after an hour. i think it was the worst movie i have ever seen and i never left the cinema before the end of a movie. I wasnt the only one, a lot of people in my cinema left too. It wasnt funny at all

Just seen Taken at Cineworld Liverpool, shame that the cinema was only about 50% full, lots of people missed out on seeing a really good film. I would rate it a 9, DD and boyfriend gave it 9.5. We could watch it again !

I was there!! I loved the film, despite not usually being that into action films or violence.

I am glad I didn't see it now...I tried to get a ticket for Pineapple Express but couldnt, but then got one for Tropic Thunder on the same night at the same cinema. I asked the usher where Pineapple Express was as I had my friend's inhaler in my bag, and then swiftly made my way in...the film was really good although the cinema was less than half full which !!!!ed me off...this happens so often and it means people who want to go, cannot go for no reason!!

Got a free screening of I've Loved You For So Long to look forward to this Sunday morning.:D 3 films within a month so far....
  • I was supposed to watch Taken last night but couldn't make it. DAMNIT.

Woke up this morning and realised there is a DVDSCR floating about since July woohoo.
  • Hi Cardiff2007

Indeed Cardiff Odeon was packed last night, so packed we didn't get in!
Gutted actually, I was really looking forward to Tropic Thunder, what's worse is that the only screening of Taken in Cardiff was the same night, so no chance of seeing that one either (bet that screening wasn't full!)

Pretty much a wasted journey, only saving grace was eating at Spice Route to stave off disappointment :D

Anybody ever had any kind of responce from seefilmfirst in this situation? Any possibility they'll send me a 'special code' for something else? :D
  • Saw "Taken" at Croydon last night and was pleased I made the effort to go - I was in two minds as I had had a pretty hectic day!

My son and I thought the acting was ok and the story was engaging. Mindless action film but that was what we expected.

All in all we gave it an 8.5 out of 10.

Saw Tropic Thunder yesterday. Cinema got quite full, maybe 80%, but we were in quite a small screen.

I didn't know what to expect from this - I thought I'd probably really hate it or really like it, luckily I was pleasantly surprised. I agree that both Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jnr were good in their roles - surprised to see Tom Cruise in this as that is not what I'd expect from him. A few good laughs and I actually slightly preferred it to Pineapple Express (would not have thought that looking at the trailers). 8/10 from me.
  • I have a couple of tickets for todays showing for Taken at the Leeds Light

I have to prepare for an interview tomorrow

let me know if you want the tickets

(should i post this message elsewhere to get a better response, as i dont want to waste these tickets)
