Us with motorbikes rate a garage highly. Ideally the car is on the drive and the bike is in the garage.
Unless you got a double garage - now you're talking!

We own a small rented house without a garage and it is hard to let out as a consequence. Also on a more personal note, even though I am not a car-proud person, I would have to have a garage to store junk and lawnmowers etc. and would be prepared to pay for it.

Also, I'd suggest there is zero value attached to a garage if you have a driveway or OSP.

When you do eventually buy a house let us know where and we'll be round for your lawnmower and your bicycles left on the drive ;)

As others have said, garages do have value, it varies how much, but they'll pretty much always attract a premiums

Strangely, I keep the lawnmower in the shed and the bikes....in the shed.

I keep the car in the driveway.

If I have any crap, I throw it away, I don't hoard it in a garage.

    But then I'm old fashioned.

Having lived in London, OSP was all I cared about.

all depends on location doesn't it then, as you say London any parking is a bonus, where I am people look for garages to store their summer soft tops/trailers/boats/jetskis/motorbikes/freezers/tumbledriers, cars go on the driveway likewise still in most cases. Also means you don't need a shed. Entirely dependent on circumstances but as I said, it pretty much most cases a garage will attract a premium, the amount varies but there is always a value.

Got any eggs for me to suck?
  • If you're in Notting Hill and have a 2 car garage in a good location, it can fetch 240k apparently! Saw an article about this in this morning's Metro.
  • I have just sold my flat and it has a garage with power at the bottom of the garden. I expected most of the viewers to be keen bikers or those with a cherished car but the majority just saw it as an extra space to store stuff.
