Do they check businesses in your name? You could pop it all in a business account after creating a ltd company and invest it in the name of the business. You wouldn't have direct access to the money but neither would the benefits lot be able to say it was yours as it belongs to a business and it is a criminal offence for a director to take money out that would cause the business to fail. Check this isn't illegal :)
the min you take any money out of your account they want to see where its gone. so you cant really win. i wouldnt mind so much if it was there money. its the most horrible thing ever being dictated what you can and cant spend YOUR OWN money on. im gonna buy a car for about 10k and boob job ect and my money should last a year. they cant deny me a car and well boob job well i can hardly take them back,at the end of the day if im supoorting myself and not claiming anything i can hardly see where there right to tell me what i spend it on comes into play.

Put it into a trust fund for your kids education? Or some of it.. then you cant spend it.

Invest it in a fixed bond i.e for 5 years in a bank ;P.

I think we should have before & after boob job shots then. ;)

Edited to add: It doesn't have to be, you know, naked flesh, it could be something classy, like through a wet, white T-shirt.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

If your ex is so well off why aren't you getting any maintenance off of him? Or are you already factoring that in to your income?

Wend, you can't spend it like that. You'd be better slowly living on it and the interest and forgetting the extra tax credits.

You're letting the tail wag the dog. Please tell me you're not serious?

Perhaps speaking to an IFA would help you put it somewhere safe that didn't affect your tax credits so much.
