Abbey Cash ISA - new account via online application

My wife and I have opened ISAs with Abbey via their online system and have had email confirmations that they have been set up and were given "OLA" prefixed reference numbers. The email confirmations included an attached transfer form.
We are keen to move our money from Barclays Cash Saver ISAs asap as we have already (I think - not sure how to check!) lost the preferential interest rate. However the Abbey transfer form asks for our Abbey account number and sort code which hasn't come through the post yet.
Having eventually got through their telephone system and spoken to a helpful lady, it seems that we just need to put our OLA numbers on the form so I can get them in the 1st Class post today - excellent :T

My wife and I received PIN numbers for "use with your Abbey Cash card" which is a bit confusing as we have only applied to open ISA accounts.
Does anyone know if it is a proviso of the ISA account that you have an Abbey Cash card and, presumably, some sort of cash account?0 -

The Cash Card simply allows you to draw funds from your Cash ISA via ATMs, should you wish to do so.
I was issued one last year, when Abbey's Cash ISA was the best for my needs - I have since transferred out.0 -

Hi,
How long does it take from filling up the application form to receiving the email?
Thanks.0 -
Something I want to ask that kinda relates to this.
Has anyone successfully transfered from Abbey to Abbey (for a higher rate) via the online application? There is a prompt for this midway through the application. I know you can easily do so in branch, but to be honest, the staff in my local branch aren't the most polite
What I really should be asking is what is the best way to go about transferring? Do I just wait until the account is set up before transferring via paper forms? Do I even need to set up the account first?
Many thanks - sorry if this sounds stupid0 -
Mine took more than a week after I applied online.
HTHI wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T0 -

We did this very thing the other day, transfer of Direct Issue 1 to Issue 2 for a better rate.
Rang their ISA dept to ask how to do this. Got told to apply online for a new ISA. On the form we put Abbey as old provider as there was nothing for transferring existing Abbey ISAs. Hubby got an e-mail a few days later telling him his new account was up and running and telling him how to deposit his money. I still haven't received mine although they were done at the same time.
His e-mail said transfer form was attached. It wasn't. It also said "If you want any further information or help, call in at your local branch".
We drove the 60 miles to the nearest branch  and asked the cashier about it. Her very sharp reply was "We don't deal with ISAs in the branch, I know nothing about it!" Long story short........we got to speak to someone who "sort of" did know about it and got a transfer form specifically for Abbey ISA to new Abbey ISA. It is different from the form for another provider to Abbey.
We got the distinct impression that she didn't know much really, especially when she said "I can't understand why they're making you move to this new ISA", we had to explain that it was our choice as the rate had dropped on the old one and we were taking advantage of the better rate
My reply probably isn't much help then is it :rotfl: but after our experience I think I would go into the branch to do it and be as polite as the staff are!0 -
In order to transfer from Abbey Issue 1 to Issue 2 I simply phoned up the ISA Helpline and told them I wanted my Issue 1 money transferred into an Issue 2. I was told that would be done and I'd get a letter out in the post confirming it within 5-7 working days so I don't think there's any need to fill in applications etc to transfer Abbey to Abbey.

Wow Michelle, you must have got hold of someone who knows how to do their job properly. Wish we'd been put through to someone like that! Instead we got told the wrong thing, had a three hour round trip to the branch and snotty branch staff to boot :rotfl: (I had a feeling it could have been done on the phone, but you can't argue with them when they tell you that you have to fill the form in on the website!)
We've posted the forms off now but by the time it all gets sorted it'll be best part of two weeks and at .5% difference and a lot of money between us both in our Issue 1s we're not best pleased at the delay.0 -

...and while I don't doubt it'll be that simple....
I've gone for the more interesting option and initiated a Xfer out, to elsewhere.0
