I had to phone them re: my password and they were very helpful and quick to answer the phone. Much better than my other Banks ...

I think you have unfortunately been the exception and not the rule as they really do seem very good.

If someone does promise to do something they really should do it. I know how annoying this can be. I suspect some of these problems (especially with large companies) are due to people not handing over issues to colleagues properly between shifts.

    Good luck with resolving it.

" Is there some reason why you cannot phone Kaupthingy then? "

    Yes there are 4 reasons

    4. My verbal and aural communicating skills are limited

and no, I don't feel like discussing my reasons with Kaupthing. I do not wan't to be treated as a special case, I only want them to send me details ( as they said they would do on 11th March ) of a sort code and account number via. email
As others have said here, I only have good things to say about their service; there will inevitably be some unlucky souls and you, unfortunately, are "it" in this case.

I understand you wouldn't want to be treated as a 'special case' but bear in mind by not phoning - and explaining - you may be making yourself the 'odd one out' and they may think you're just being awkward, which you're obviously not. It wouldn't hurt to email them and briefly mention that you have a problem with verbal communication and need to communicate by email; after all, you've just told thousands of people who don't need to know. They don't need to know the details. They seem nice people, so if you're nice to them I'm sure you'll get the right response. Good luck.

As the original post was in early April, referring to the application in March, I would guess this has now been sorted out anyway. Recent posters may think the problem is still ongoing, but this probably isn't so.

I rarely look at the initial post date - was just reading one and realised it started in 2003  Yes, this thread is probably pretty cold by now then. Thanks for pointing it out.

Yes, I do think when people resurrect old-ish threads, they should point this out - I know very often I don't look but it can distort the whole meaning. I mean, if someone was posting now, complaining about something like this that happened in March, there would be something radically wrong. It was still bad service but within the bounds of probability.

Quick question - Does the Kaupthing Edge account pay interest monthly or annualy? I can't find anything about it on their site.

Interest on the savings account is paid monthly - obviously the FTD is paid annually.

(edit - thinking about it, I can't remember whether you get a choice when you open the account, but certainly you CAN have the interest paid monthly. Don't know if it can be automatically paid out to another account though).

You're right though, I couldn't find a reference on the site and had to check my account.

Yes Kaupthing Edge, i am in the military serving in Cyprus i am finding it extremely difficult to open a account, however i have now, i had to telephone and explained that i was serving in a overseas country, whilst living in my own property and that there application process does not allow for people like me to apply, after a long chat they made a special "one off" for me to open an account, i had to provide plenty of evidence in support of my application. I did tell them that i would go to the FSA because they are being discriminate in my case, i wonder if my threat made them see sense??? and i wonder how many other people in my situation have the same problems. I have just applied for a HISAVE account with ICCI and put my BFPO address in the UK address block, they were having none of it!! I have just applied again using my Cypriot home address under the UK residential block, watch the fun and games begin, i know i will win this battle but the effort and stress i will go through will make my blood presure rise somewhat.

Any thoughts about this are welcome. Paul

Doesn't the military administration have some kind of system for dealing with this sort of situation - after all, soldiers serving abroad must always be needing to have banking facilities.
