If i stay with Pipex what deal can I get?

Options
I have been with Pipex for about 2/3 years with ordinary broadband connection I pay £14.99 and get a 2gb download limit and my anytime calls are included. I decided to have a change as I now have a laptop and want to connect wirelessly and need router, and started looking at other deals around. There doesnt seem much in it. I was going to go for Tiscali £19.99 includes line rental but that was not available on this exchange. If I stay with Pipex what is the best they can do. I know I can probably get free router and would need to get a better download limit and would like to get international calls cheaper as I call once a month Spain. Any ideas, has anyone got a good deal?

Tiscali own Pipex, and since they took over there have been many problems for users.

Also beware if you change/upgrade your Pipex you will immediately start a new 12 month contract.

Tiscali is up for sale and it is possible the CarPhone Wharehouse might buy them.

They are currently trying to buy users by low price short term offerings, so that they can "sell" more users to the new buyer.

Spain using override company can be 1p per minute.

Have you looked at Plusnet ?

Why would you want to stay with Pipex?

many people believe the misinformation that the internet slows down at 4pm, and assume the poor service they receive is the same for everybody, of course those of us with enough knowledge (or luck) to choose a decent ISP know they are wrong, but while they can save a fiver a month they're not likely to change

    Agreed 100%;)
  • What have you decided Starfish? I am in a similar position to you - at the end of a contract with Pipex and now looking to change. I am looking at wireless connection as well.

couldn`t agree more and even worse since they became Tiscali. No one in their right mind should stay with them. Please look elsewhere!!

I get 8.2 meg, used to get 2.

I doubt they are worse than others, just have a bigger base, so more people who are unhappy, but more that are not unhappy as well.
    8.2, thats impressive!!! (also unlikely/impossible)

as to "i doubt..." then, like many others, you are ignorant of many things net related, and perhaps also think "i doubt that porche is much faster than my skoda, after all, they've both got 4 wheels" this article in the times shows that tiscali (aka pipex, aka piece of ...) are [self censored] themselves at the thought of having to supply the bandwidth that they are charging for and promising customers.

  • I have been with them for 18 months now and lots of problems.

Once contract finishes, will look elsewhere

I must add thoughts being a PIPEX customer, well I have just dumped them, MAC code within 5 day's they said by post for this I hope it's right. Tiscali's biggest problem is that they do not answer your emails. I am writing this email from a friends PC as My BB is down and has been for the last 7 day's.
My advice to anyone looking for BB, avoid these jokers like the plague.
