look on the floor esp near the beer tent (drunks are careless with their money)

we always seem to find several £10's on the floor and of course plenty of beer tokens that people drop when we go to TITP:beer:

Don't forget if you're taking your kids if they just pick up any of the dropped plastic cups and return them they can earn some extra money to spend - my daughters friend made enough to get a couple of official t-shirts and some money left for the milkshake van:D

Any hints for the Isle of Wight festival?? Can you take a car and park next to the tent?

Nooo :( Be prepared for a long and lumpy walk!

Last year, the facilities were appauling - most notable was the lack of drinking water for campers so, although we had a 10l water carrier, there was nowhere to fill it up. The 500ml bottles of "festival water" started at £2.50 and increased daily.

TIP: Get as much water as you can on the first day!!! Also sunscreen - every year for the last 5, it's been absolutely steaming hot and there's virtually no shade on the site.

Ladies were also squatting by the fences on the Sunday, because there were simply no toilets... if you're a lady and you're going this year, you might want to invest in a "shenis" thingy.

    geez!!!!

that's seriously not fair! 3.20 for a beer? awful!

It's at least £3 + for a beer in all the bars and pubs where I live except Whethrspoons which is still about £2.70 for a proper beer!!

I normally take bottles of cider to festivals and if you freeze some of them before you go you have chilled drinks for the first few days, plus they keep any bbq food cool on the way.
Also Glastonbury has a bakery which is reasonably priced so meals you can have a filling lunch for a couple of quid, instead of about 5!

been going to reading/leeds/glasto for 15 years now, so i've seen my fair share of festival camping.

    a few tips:

if you are taking a car down, i recommend the following:

airbed - one of the best inventions EVER

foldable chair for your campsite area

if theres a bunch of you going, and your tent space is limited, see about getting the cheapest nastiest tent possible between you and using it as a storage tent for your chairs/bulky items.

gazebo - gives you shade from the sun, or shelter from the rain. wilkos do them for £13 at the moment.

disposable bbqs - forget about camping stoves and pots/pans. bbq!

meat and booze - trawl your supermarkets before closing in the coming weeks for cheap nice bbq meats. take them out of the packaging, put them in small bags (make sure they are wrapped up well) and freeze them. also, the night before, freeze your cans of beer (i drink strongbow).. then use the frozen cans as ice packs in your coolbox to keep your meat cold. its a bit heavier to carry, but youll love having icy cold beer for the first two days of the festival. also your random meat will keep longer, so you should have enough for at least the first 48 hours. any longer (especially in hot weather) and you probably wouldnt want to risk the meat.

also, asda do boxes of perry for sod all (le soleil?) - its quite nice (even when warm) and high in alcohol. and it comes in a bag, so its easy to hide in your bag :)

heres the checklist i always print out and take with me, its been compiled over the last 15 years....

I've been to Glastonbury twice and absolutely loved it. However, all the people I usually go with aren't free :( Has anyone else been to the festival by themselves? I'm a little nervous about going alone, but part of me thinks !!!!!! it and just go anyway!

^ I'm going alone, can meet up if you like!

It'll be my first time going to Glasto alone, but I've been to Lowlands (the equivalent in Holland) and it's great - lots of like-minded, friendly people everywhere - doesn't take long to make new friends. Plus you're free to do what you want when you want (even just chilling out for a while, or going to see that obscure band that only you like :))

Latitude 17th-20th July, I'm going to that one. I've given Glasto a miss this year, cos it was dire last year, but OH gone with my son.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.
