I'm going to Download and Leeds festival, I'm disabled so I get a free ticket (or as I prefer to think of it, two half priced tickets), and I get to drive up to where I'm camping, so can take as much beer as I can fit in the car. I'll be taking a camping stove (I'm keeping an eye on ebay and freecycle to get one cheaper) and some tins of food, breadbuns, etc. Don't take chocolate, it becomes a gooey mess.
Does anyone have a recipe for flapjacks? I'd like some for the energy but I know they're a lot cheaper to make then they are to buy ready made, and I can pack them with my favourite dried fruits.
The last couple of years Leeds have had a beer amnesty, but they've split with Carling so I don't know if they're doing it now. It meant you could buy cheapo value lager and swap it for cold cups of carling. I think different festivals have different rules on taking in opened bottles, I know Leeds don't allow it but having read the Download forums they do.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

Try posting/searching on the Old Style forum. You'll get 20 recipes to choose from.
Just booked tickets to WOMAD 25th - 27th July.
The lat festival I went to was the Cambridge Folk Festival, about 20 years ago.
So I'll be reading this thread avidly. 0 -
it's annoying I just can't find my printout with a festival link. But I do remember the first tip - whatever the weather wear combats.........you get so much in the pockets and they help to keep your valuables safe.
Poundland at the moment have loads of camping equipment - little battery operated lanterns, travel wallets, billy cans, fold-up saucepans etc.0 -

I think Mr P and I are arranging to go next year. And Tomotina too.
Glasto for this year though!
I'll post up offers for the supermarkets for all the festivals, so make sure you keep coming back to check!

thought of another tip that I read elsewhere - wear a bandana and spray it each morning with scent. When you need to go the loos, put it over your nose :silenced:0

You may have missed one or two festivals from your list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_music_festivals_in_the_United_Kingdom
In my youth when I used to go to Festivals I used to save cash by taking my own food, but as I couldn't be bothered to cook I just lived on cold things for the weekend. We used to take lots of beer to keep in the tent and just get tanked up before going into the arena so we didn't spend much in the beer tents. Any other 'intoxicants' we used to take with us too rather than buying onsite. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
