Thanks MrsE, all the same if it's that 'creamy' type cleanser it's just not for me, I wish it was, so many people say it's great! I prefer proper 'cleaning' if you know what I mean? Probably not explaining this very well!
I've never been a big fan of cream cleansers either - my preference dating back to my teens was liquid cleanser, the sort that looks more like toner and is often aimed at problem skin (I've suffered from acne in various severities since my mid teens - not so bad now but still not great). I found that cream cleansers just didn't leave my skin feeling properly clean - even though I do realise that the ones I was using felt "clean" on account of stripping all my skin's natural oils!

However I'm getting on very well with my first bottle of Liz Earle C&P - I like the hot cloth method. You get the richness of a cream, while still ending up with properly clean skin.

Sorry, I digress. Must try the new Tesco one. And must buy some of those muslin cloths while they are on 3 for 2...

Thanks to bluekp and bank_of_slate for answering my question about the highlighter/concealers. I will of course be trying the Collection 2000 one first, on account of the price... If I don't like it I'll try the Body Shop one next!

    Cheers ladies :)

Thanks, that sounds interesting, I wonder if it would be worth my while getting a trial size. Like you say though, I really do prefer things like liquid washes (Clinique Foaming Cleanser for example) which might be too harsh for some people but I love the 'squeaky clean' feeling I get from it. My skin is clear, never had spots, am still fairly young (23). Anyway, we both digress! :rotfl:

Also it's probably important to note that the ysl touche eclat isn't a concealor just an illuminator so it won't give 'cover' up anything as such...

MrsE - bring back your other sig!! lol

So many people didn't get the humour:rolleyes: :rotfl:

I think there's a danger sometimes for people to get sucked into the 'hype' surrounding a product such as Liz Earle C & P (and Touche Eclat for that matter). I have tried C & P and was determined to be objective about it and pretend that I hadn't read any reviews- as I think it's human nature to think a product MUST be great if so many people think it is (though I'm not saying that's always the case).

I came to the conclusion that I quite liked the product (it left my cheeks feeling a bit dry), but couldn't honestly see what all the fuss was about, and certainly didn't see why it was so expensive. I did like it better than foam cleansers I tried though, so decided that the actual method of a cream cleanser with muslin cloth probably suited my skin better. So I'm looking forward to trying the new Tesco one to see how it compares!

When I tried YSL Touche Eclat, I found that it began to smell really disgusting after a time. Perhaps I did not use it up quickly enough. I have used the Collection 2000 at a fiver and found it to be just as effective (and it did no go "off").

Definetely agree with this and I'm one of those people!!

To name a few off the top of my head:

    Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream
    YSL Touche Eclat
    Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
    Shu Umera eyelash curlers
    Tweezerman tweezers
Clinique 3 step (a few years back)

    All cost a fortune!

The thing about those products you've named, though, is that most of them don't have any official "hype" at all... it's all word of mouth. And that can be a lot more persuasive than active advertising. I'd never heard of Liz Earle until I started reading about it on MSE...

Yes! I've been there too with Touche Eclat, Beauty Flash Balm, expensive tweezers from Space NK, VERY expensive skincare range from a company called Energys, make-up too numerous to mention...all massively hyped and over-priced. I'm determined not to be seduced by it all now, hence the reason for starting this thread!!

I'll second the Bnatural skin brightening cleansing balm from Tesco with the cloth as a good alternative to Liz Earle. Pity they have changed the formulation(I haven't tried the new one). It hasn't got the menthol type smell of Liz Earle cleanse and polish but it is effective and lasts for ages.
