can anyone tell me if i'm being unreasonable. just before the easter holiday ds came home from school with what looked like a sissor cut in his brand new (first time on) school trousers. he said he caught them on the table. today i've noticed a cut in his school jumper. he's admitted that he cut them both when he was doing art 'to see what it would like like'. do i make him pay for the school jumper? it's £8.50? he's always breaking things or ripping them and i want him to realise it's got consequences. do i just ask for a few pounds towards it? so far i've not yelled i've just told him why he has to stop. any help? xx
Make him pay.
DS1 did something similar with my DSlite. He has his own and has always been careful, but when playing mine one morning, he decided that as he was losing he would bang it off the table.
AT the time he was saving for a new one of his own, he had a grand total of £35 saved up. It cost £55 for mine to be fixed so his savings were seized.
I think he learned a lesson.0 -
Evening all
Great night so far! I lost 1 1/2 lb at fat club tonight. On the way back to the car I twisted my ankle and fell and re-skint my knee. Ouch!!! Then to cap it all, I went to use my mob and found out that my water bottle burst in my bag. The mob is soaking (again!) and I dont know if it will recover this time
I'm away for a bath and a sulk0 -
Really busy today - but not in the house! I have done the master bedroom though, as it takes all of about five minutes.
I managed to finish preparing the area for the hedge and got it planted after lunch today, then as the boys didn't want to go out anywhere, I spent an hour on the allotment, planting shallots, and sowing some early salads, and weeding. If I spend the whole of the rest of the holiday there, I may actually get it how I want it...I'll be quite happy if I manage to plant the strawberry plants, and the potatoes though.
johanna - gas and air is really, really nice stuff...had an epidural with DS1, as induced, and it didn't work properly, and so can't recommend that. (Personal opinion, not medical advice). There should be masses of information on the internet - try the National Childbirth Trust. Usually good source of information, and it's always research based.
mudbath - a few years ago, DD cut a fringe along the edge of her duvet cover. I just couldn't say a word, as when I was about the same age, I was given a needlework box, and with the scissors, carefully fringed the edge of the dining room curtains, which were newly made by my mum.... I have to say (and I hope they never read this) that my children ae much better behaved than I ever was...
dusty - I did see some gutter in B&Q, but it was rounded, and I was in an indecisive mood, so came home without it. I'll keep looking.
Just had two texts from DD - OH topped up her phone again, so I guess she was out of credit. She has had a ride on elephants, and visited the Taj Mahal, and they are off on the train to Jodhpur tomorrow. I'm going to look it up on the map!! Incredibly hot apparently, but she is having a wonderful time. I was beginning to get anxious because I hadn't heard. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -

tia - i'd forgotton about your ds. thing is, if i don't do something he'll keep doing it so it has to stop. mind you...he just came down stairs with the rest of his money from his atm bank and said 'this is for all the toys that i've broken'. i didn't take it but it's made him think!

> Dashes in
Hi all, just a quickie as I'm not long back from going out again after getting in from work. Thanks for the welcome home Dusty, you probably didn't spot me leaving again about half an hour later! Meeting was done and finished in reasonable timescales. The stew I put in the slow cooker was incredibly salty when I tasted it when I got in. I put some salt on the aubergine to draw out the bitterness but, it seems, didn't rinse it well enough. I've bunged some cut up potato in there and will go and check again in a minute. If it's still too salty, then it'll be plan B.
Errrrr...
Errr...
Off to work out a plan B. Will probably involve cashew nuts, rice, and anything else I can lay my hands on in a hurry and the wok.
Hugs to those who need them

Evening everyone! Managed to catch up with all the news. Hugs to everyone who needs them.
Am going to level 2 in bedroom whilst waiting for Apprentice. Can't wait to see if the girls team is going to be as pants as it was last week!
Mudbath - I'm with you on the paying front. We have a rule that when things are lost at school they get replaced once. After that it's up to them! DD1 is much more careful with her possessions now! (This rule came in after I single handedly raised the WHSmiths share price with the pencil cases and other stuff being purchased!)
Did someone mention wine o'clock?? I've got a bottle of pink plonk in fridge if anyone would care to join?
Johanne - I had 2 of my sprogs on gas and air (at home) and one on nothing! (First one - induced). Was v sick on gas and air on first baby, so mw wouldn't give me pethedine and too late for epidural! Mudbath's right though - gas and air is GOOOD! I watched some of my labour from the ceiling:rotfl:
Anyway, this isn't getting the bedroom tidy!!
See you later ladies!
