Looking at all the replies and the quotes you have highlighted you have answered your own B****Y question. You deep down want to move but i know it's a big step. Just think a lovely new build,no redecorating(no previous occupants decor), 2 toilets(always handy with kids!)new gas cooker(saved you some money) no neighbour from hell(yes i know risky but there can not be that many about and think you would be extreemly unlucky to get another)smaller garden(less maintainance)no damp(no poorly babies!)desirable area(these days there seem to be less and less of these)ok so school not so hot but things change and as you said they are having a new head. Also by the time you move it(if it's timed right) may well be summer hols time so your son will start in sept and it's a whole new term. More diffacult for your boy if he starts half way through a term.

i have to agree with most of what everybody else has said hun, i know its daunting but this really could be the fresh start you need & in the new build things have to be easier than they are now, ultimatly it has to be yours & hubbys choice so good luck in what ever you decide xxx

    Morning TF

Well looking at your reply I would say that if there are buses on your route I would go for it.

In our town, if the childs school is more than 3 miles away, they get a bus pass. When my son was 11 we moved house which involved him getting 2 buses, leaving the house at 7.40am each day. It didn't bother him one bit, in fact I think it helped his independence. He said he would've much rather done the bus journey than change school.

Good luck in whatever decision you make xx

    Morning TF :)

My twopenneth's worth - I would go for it. I think the pros FAR outweigh the cons :)

Ultimately it has to be a decision you're completely happy with, but if it were me I would be biting their hands off :D What does your H think about it?

Hope you managed to get some sleep and baby is feeling better this morning xx

    Hi TF,
Just had a quick read through of this (and your old) thread and from what I can tell you NEED to get out of the place you're in now (for the kids health if nothing else) and from what i can tell this new house sounds really good (despite the distance to school).
I think you said you can stay on the exchange list?

I'm not experienced in these things but thought i'd give you my 2 pennies worth :)

    All the best!

Edit: I know its easy for someone like me to say this, I usually move once every year or two and as its just me it tends to be very straight forward, i'm sure moving a whole family can be a big upheaval!

    Hi Tigerfeet,

You've had a lot of useful suggestions and on balance it does seem that moving house is your best option. Sometimes a decision is easy to make because the reasons in favour far outweigh the reasons against; other times it can be horrendously difficult, and you never know whether you've made the right decision until you're able to look back with the benefit of hindsight.

Something that we've found particularly helpful when we've been faced with a difficult decision, especially one where we've both got differing opinions is to head a sheet of paper with the question; in this case "Should we move house"? Divide the paper into two columns, "For" and "Against" and then start to list all the reasons as objectively as you can.

Somebody has already suggested doing this, but not with the following addition. Once you've completed your list, go down each one and give it a score of 1 to 10, where 1 is unimportant and 10 is very important. When you've done that add them up and hopefully one of the columns should be significantly higher than the other.

Quite often when you just draw up a list of "For" and "Against" you've a pretty equal number. Weighting that list usually throws up a far more conclusive result.

    Regards

    Rich

Good morning all you lovely people. Thank you for your input, it's been wonderful and has helped us with our own thoughts.

Subject to being accepted with the new HA we are going to be moving house. It is the best for us we feel.

Yes the school run is going to be a problem but it can be overcome, we will find a way round things.

Both sets of parents have been and looked at the house and they say we would be silly to turn it down.

So thank you for helping me get my head round all the issues, you are fantastic

    Hi Waspeze

We are going to see if we can move in during the school holidays in May but obviously it is all up in the air at the moment.
