Managed to cut down monthly outgoings, so pretty happy.
Alls working good at the mo, using Sipgate through the Voip port on the wireless Draytek 2100VG router, hooked up to my old DECT phone.
No need for the pc to be on, no BT/Telewest line rental, cheap calls, plus a local number provided (although this confuses all my friends as its an 0207 in 0208 area!)
I was originally going to go through VOIPCheap, but they do not allocate numbers since June. So now Im using SJphone via my PDA, on Wi-Fi to use this account which is a bonus as landline calls are free!0 -

who's raking in the profits. not you and I but the provider.
I wont force people to pay extra to talk to me
*sigh* just another person who selectively reads....
They cost as much as normal landlines. End.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

You can use VOIPCheap settings for outgoing proxy, Sipgate for ingoing proxy on a VOIP router. Thus your router has the phone number and can make free landline calls....[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

ooh, sort of answered my next question, was going to ask if there is any good pocket pc software that would work with sipgate !
so SJphone does the job? so it means as long as im on wifi people can phone the sipgate local number? - and if they have free local and national phone calls its free?
is the SJphone software for the pc any good to? better than xplite?0 -

Hmmm what 0845 and 0870 numbers?
Afraid I don't have a clue what you are referring to.
Sipgate issues you with an 01 or 02 number, as did VoIP Cheap, VoIP Stunt etc.
So no one has to call the dearer 0845 or 0870 numbers, I too avoid 0845 and 0870 when I can, because of the vast cost difference in calling them. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

No what you have is an 020 number, the area code for the whole of London is 020.
It can confuse people stating codes such as 0207 or 0208, as that isn't the area code, the 7 and the 8 (also 3) are part of your 8 digital local phone number.
If you were to write your number incorrectly as (0207) 888 8888 people may think they can just dial 888 8888, because the number is missing a digital the exchange will be waiting for the final digit, and then shortly tell you there is a problem, the local number is 7888 8888.
There is no reason why the same area can't now have 020 3, 020 7 or 020 8 numbers. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Can you do this if you only have one VoIP port on your router?0 -
This is a bit off topic and may sound insane to you (if you all don't mind). I just got couple of 0870 numbers and would like to expose them to telemarkerters. So, does anyone know which telemarketer sites I should visit to expose my 0870 numbers?0

Do I need to credit my account before I can receive calls on my personalised sipgate number?0
